As various pressure groups continue to drum support for their candidates in the 2015 general election, Youths of Owerri Zone under the aegis of Owerri Zone Youths Coalition for Good Governance (OZYCGG) has expressed support for Hon. Samdaddy Anyanwu to represent Owerri zone in the Senate come 2015.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Owerri and signed by its President Deacon Chibuike Mgbeahuru and Secretary Barr. Isdore Amadi, the group said “if there is anyone on whose head the cap of the Senator representing Owerri zone rightly fits at this moment in our polity, that person is Hon. Samdaddy Anyanwu”.
“If the people of Owerri zone is looking for a man with character, candour, accessible, vibrant, mature, a bridge builder who will carry everybody along, and above all gifted with ideas to present a strong voice for the people of the zone, then the people has to look at Hon. Samdaddy with his antecedents of strong representation for the people of Ikeduru”.
The group emphasized that they have keenly followed the unfolding race to represent Owerri zone in the senate in 2015 and have unanimously decided to support Hon. Samdaddy after a careful look at other aspirants coming out for the position.
“Aside from being a youth, Hon. Samdaddy is accessible and has acquired prerequisite legislative experience in his eight years in the State Assembly that will impact on his representation in the Senate” the group stated.
They enumerated the achievements of Hon. Samdaddy Anyanwu in the Imo State House of Assembly to include sponsorship of people oriented bills and motions, facilitating employments and admissions into tertiary institutions for Ikeduru youths, empowerment of youths and indigent women in Ikeduru, sponsorship of free skill acquisition and placing the name of Ikeduru on the State and national map, among other notable achievements.
The youth body pointed out that the senate should not be a dumping ground for political spent forces but should be a place for vibrant and youthful individuals with cognate experience and zeal to present a strong voice for the people of their zone. These qualities the group said are evident in the person of Hon. Samdaddy Anyanwu.
The statement further stated that the group is a non political body that represents the interest of Owerri zone youths but would always support any individual that will guarantee Owerri zone youths quality representation. They vowed to mobilize the entire Owerri zone youths to support the candidature of Hon. Samdaddy for senate, and urged the PDP to give him ticket in their primaries if the party must get their vote come 2015.
The group commended the incumbent Senator representing Owerri zone, Senator Chris Anyanwu for her courage and record of achievements, and for deciding honourably to step down from the senate after two tenures as a senator.
The statement urged all youths in Owerri zone to brace up to the challenge of electing one of their own as their destiny is now in their hands.
