Following the impressive turnout of the people of Awa community in Oguta LGA and successes recorded during the All Progressive Congress APC registration exercise, the Special Assistant on Special Duties to the Managing Director (MD) Imo state Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, Hon Ezenna Okoro has declared Awa Community an APC territory.
Hon Okoro who was the first person to registrar in his unit on the 5th February 2005 at his country home described the turnout in Awa Community as highly impressive and commendable as such turnout during registration exercise has never been witnessed in the history of Politics in Awa Community. He attributed the success to the fact that the All progressive Congress (APC) is a party that is grassroot oriented going by the party ideology and philosophy which is to provide a credible and viable alternative in good governance which is serving the people and imparting directly into life which is being witnessed in the present Administration led by Gov. Rochas Okorocha.
The Chief Executive Officer of CAJECO Nig Ltd also spoke on APC as a political party as he likened it to a mass movement which had grown into a formidable force that could uproot PDP in Imo state. He added that APC has come to sweep away the dirt and social vices of PDP with APC broom. He further said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has gone for good in Awa community as it is dead in Imo state. He urged Imolites to rally round and bury it the way the people of Awa community did. He thanked the people for trooping out en-mass for the membership registration exercise as well as commending them for embracing the change which APC stand for.
