Indications emerged yesterday that plans by the oil mogul and supposed bigwig of the Peoples Democratic Party of Nigeria (PDP) Captain Emmanuel Iheanacho to join APGA suffered a major set back.
Assistant National publicity secretary South East of APGA Chief Tony Ugorji told the Trumpeta that Captain Iheanacho had last week allegedly sent a group of his followers led by Dr Anthony Ihedoro to his ward chairman Comrade Andy Opara at Emekuku ward 1 for the purposes of finding the details over his supposed registration with the party.
The publicity secretary further disclosed that the men were however told to inform their principal believed to be Captain Iheanacho that he needed to come personally as the party do not register members by proxy.
Our investigation has it that it is now the policy of APGA not to further register fair weather members whose interests are only to achieve their political ambition under the party’s umbrella.
Most members who spoke to Trumpeta insisted that APGA will not tolerate such situation any more, where people like Governor Okorocha after winning the election turned back to describe the party as a cultural association.
“APGA will not tolerate it anymore to welcome people who want to use the Igbo platform to win elections and thereafter go back to their ancestral homes”.
They decried the situation where after winning the election under APGA that Governor Okorocha chose to join the Hausas in his new found political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to them, “APGA may only as a deliberate policy allow people who may have stayed up to two years in the party to be eligible to contest elections under the party”.
Concluding, they maintained that the blocking of Captain Iheanacho from registering in the party is informed by the singular fact that he is not APGA in blood but only see it as a veritable option to achieve his political ambition.
When contacted, Captain Ihenacho denied knowledge of the development claiming that he is still a bonafide member of the PDP and has no reason to seek APGA registration.
“It is fictitious, a lie and a malicious lie by some people scared about my profile. There is nothing like that because I have not gone to seek any parties registration”
The guber hopeful noted that some syndicate are spreading false rumour about his person warning that no amount of blackmail will stop his vision to govern Imo.
