Two kidnap Kingpins are now cooling their heels at the cell of the anti-kidnapping section of the Imo state police command for allegedly abducting and keeping in their custody a woman named Margaret Odor who has been rescued and re-united with her family.
Addressing newsmen, the outgoing Commissioner of police for the state, Mohammed Katsina said that the two persons caught in the act for the alleged offence are Nwodu Josephat (33 years) from Umuduru Onuimo LGA and Jude Ihentuge (22 years) of Obazu Mbieri, in Mbaitoli LGA.
In a similar raid, a suspect Lawrence Ukpai alias, Bayelsa aged 25 years was arrested at Uzomiri Umudibia, Nekede Owerri West LGA for alleged incessant robbing of students and tenants of the polytechnic community residing in the area. The suspect who has been on the wanted list of police and been earlier arrested, has in his possession one single-barrel locally made pistol, two live cartridges, and phones.
While addressing Journalists, some of the arrested criminals with their ammunitions were displayed. The fraudulent conversion of 900 bags of Dangote Cement to Eziobodo by one Osondu Obichere was aborted by the Ambush squad police on a tip off. The hijacked cement was to be delivered to Akwa-Ibom state but was cornered to Eziobodo where 348 bags of cement were sold to one Philip Oforegbu from Eziobodo. The hijacked Dangote Truck has TRM116XA as its registration number.
Also caught in the evil act are Nwodu Josephat (33years) from Umuduru Onuimo LGA and Jude Ihentuge (22 years) of Obazu Mbieir Mbaitolu LGA, for kidnapping one Mrs. Margaret odor who has been rescued and reunited with her family.
Another arrested suspect is Lawrence Ukpai alias Bayelsa aged 25. He was arrested at Uzomiri Umudibia Nekede, Owerri West for continuously robbing students and other tenants. Good enough for the masses, he has been in the command wanted to caught is one Osayende Joseph (33years) of Ikoba Hill, Benin city, Edo state. Mr Joseph at was caught on 20th January 2014 at Amanndi along Ihiala Orlu road for unlawfully possessing Police and military kits in a concealed “Ghana must Go” bag. He was driving a Toyota sienna bus with registration number Ben 904AA and kits recovered from the suspect include-Eleven (11) pairs of black police cottons, forty (40) Police Rank and File Line yard, one Rank and File Blue Cotton and one police camouflage cotton. Others are a pair of handcuffs and a pair of leg chains with keys, a pair of police baton, one Assistant commissioner of police Badge of rank with ceremonial Epilate on it and a police sweater.
Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) students were arrested in the middle of the night at a bush within Umuelem Ihiagwa carrying out initiation of new members into Black Axe confraternity.
The suspected cultists are, Echekwu Osinadu, Desmond Odinaka, Emmanuel Chibuzor, Gerald Maduabuchi and Comilius Obidugwu.
Meanwhile, new Police commissioner supervises activities of the Imo state Police command as the Mohammed Katsina who held sway for about a year moves to Jos, Plateau state for a promotion course.
Mohammed Katsina’s stay in Imo witnessed crime reduction as he confronted criminals in the state through all fronts.
Though crime was not eliminated in the state but it was reduced to a limit where Imolites showered praises on Katsina whose tireless efforts kept men of the underworld at bay.
