Confusion and chaos have taken over the peace that had pervaded the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ngor Okpala LGA Chapter, Imo State as members have risen in unison demanding the replacement of Chief Clement C Nwigwe or risk losing large number of members to other political parties in the LGA.
Speaking to newsmen in Owerri, the Ngor Okpal PDP Members warned that the party will lose all the elections in the council during the coming polls if the party insists in keeping Nwigwe as the chairman.
They alerted that they have had enough from Nwigwe, and have resolved to take a decision soon, if the party believes that one person is greater than the rest members of the party.
Fuming with anger, Bar Chikodi Onyeocha said CC Nwigwe is becoming a liability to the party than a profit following the manner he is running the affairs of the party, even claiming that no body can remove him from office, because he is backed by the powers that be.
Bar Onyeocha maintained that CC Nwigwe is leading Ngor Okpala PDP to doom, as he had already lost the confidence of eleven members of the seventeen executive members.
“From the Secretary, Legal Adviser, Treasurer and others none are supporting Nwigwe, yet our leaders are pretending that all is well, even as the elections approach with other strong parties making incursion into Ngor Okpala” Bar Onyeocha said.
They said Nwigwe has also lost confidence of the ward chairmen, as he only recognizes Mr Chibuzor Okoroafor of ward Nine whom he parades as chairman of ward chairmen. They said Nwigwe with Chibuzor visited Bar Humphrey Anumudu, Engr Emma Ojinere, Hon Bethel Amadi, Chief Jerry Chukwueke, Dr Agumuo and others who gave them items for party leaders and ward chairmen during the Christmas period. But till date Nwigwe and Chibuzor have not given anybody anything.
A Woman Leader, Hon Mrs Cordelia Anyanwu said Nwigwe has turned Ngor Okpala PDP to his his private state as he calls only friends to meetings hosted by the party leaders or Aspirants, forgetting that politics is all about number, adding that if Nwigwe remains in office, PDP will lose Ngor Okpala in 2015 election.
“In 2011, Ngor Okpala PDP lost almost all the elections. Nwigwe lost all elections in his booth at Obiangwu Ward. So, what is a leader, if you can not win your ward, mostly when you are the chairman. All the people Nwigwe is parading about what are their political values? How did the fair in their Booths in the last election Go and ask Chibuzor if he won any election? in two Booths located in his village. What is his electoral value if not to blackmail other?” Mrs Anyanwu asked.
She maintained that the situation will get worse in 2015 as most Ngor Okpala PDP members are not happy with the present party Executive led by Nwigwe, adding that it is because of her love for PDP that she opened up on the hard facts.
They lamented that if you go to Nwigwe’s House, over seven vehicles donated by party leaders are littered in his premises both in Owerri and Obiangwu, yet he can not release any to other party officers.
“Last December, all the rice, money and other gifts given to party members are horded in Nwigwe’s house as he alone pocketed every thing” Ifeanyi Opara said.
They members appealed to Ngor Okpala PDP leaders, including His Excellency, Rt Emeka Ihedioha who represents the Area in the House of Representatives to hear their clarion call and rescue Ngor Okpala PDP from the clutches of Nwigwe, Chibuzor and their cohorts.
“We support Rt Hon Ihedioha in whatever ambition he has in 2015. Nigwe is not a magician. He does not win votes. Ihedioha should find out what Nwigwe has done to those who made him party chairman. A leopard does not change its colour. Nwigwe can still do same to Ihedioha tomorrow” they chorused.
Next edition we shall publish text messages and Bank account which Nwigwe uses to extort money from unsuspecting members.
