GOVERNOR
Even as the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha is yet to make public his intention known on the position to gun for in 2015, posters bearing the governor’s pictures and name have been spotted at various designations in the state.
Though, the office of the governor and any campaign organization is yet to lay claim to the picture, but the poster showed that it was for the presidential election scheduled to hold Feb. 14, 2015 across the country, included in the posters.
The posters was spotted around the Government House, Owerri gate, Tetlow and Mbaise roads in Owerri municipal. In some cases, it was torn off and removed from where it was pasted on the walls of buildings and fences.
It would be recalled that early this year, Okorocha during facilitators /stakeholders of APC meeting in Imo declared intention to move to the national stage of Nigerian politics and possible handover to another person in 2015. The reported assertion may have warranted the coming of the posters which adorns Owerri town.
Meanwhile President Goodluck Jonathan last Sunday met with Political Leaders from Imo state at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, where various issues concerning Imo state and the People Democratic Party, PDP topped the Agenda.
Trumpeta learnt that the meeting which was held in close door had the former Governors of Imo state, Chief Achike Udenwa, and Chief Ikedi Ohakim in attendance.
This Newspaper learnt that return of Chief Achike Udenwa was one of the topics of the meeting as Udenwa has agreed to come back to PDP, even as he was penciled down as the next chairman of Subsidy Reinvestment Fund, SURE-P as a cushion effect and to give him reliance in the PDP and the Nation as he returns to the fold.
Meanwhile, Trumpeta learnt that Udenwa yesterday at about 4pm at Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu’s house in Abuja endorsed his return to PDP. He was in company of Chief Eze Mayor, Colonel Lambert Iheanacho (rtd)
Source said that President Jonathan told the Imo Delegation that he does not want to lose one vote in Imo state, and wants a repeat of the 2011 election where he garnered over one million votes from Imo state; even though Jonathan was yet to make his Presidential ambition open.
Trumpeta learnt that Jonathan has decided to have his South East Coordinator for his 2015 Presidential bid from Imo state, since he has more confidence in an Imo man to lead his battle for votes in the South East.
Jonathan, it was learnt, promised to continue to remember Imo state in the scheme of things in his administration, adding that he appointed another Imo citizen, in the person of Chief Eze Duruiheoma (SAN), the Chairman of the National Population Commission NPC for the love he has for Imo state and Ndigbo in general.
The meeting which lasted into the early hours of yesterday was said to be one of the several meetings President Jonathan slated to be holding with Imo State Leaders every three months until the 2015 elections are over.
Also speaking the new PDP boss that is warming to take over from National population commission chairman, Chief Nnamdi Anyaechie has described members of the All Progressive Alliance, APC, as bunch of desperadoes seeking relevance in the polity through cheap means.
In apparent response to a story published by one of the Owerri-based media houses, (not Trumpeta) alleging that Anyachie has dumped PDP for APC, the new PDP helmsman waiting inauguration disclosed that it is a blatant lie and mischievous report aimed causing disaffection in the PDP family.
While debunking the alleged claim by the newspaper, Anyachie who spoke to the newspaper through an aide named Frank Onyejiaka, disclosed that since he is a products hot commodity and expensive, the newspaper engaged in high level lie to sell its producers adding that the originators and sponsors of the story do not have conscience because he is a card-carrying member of PDP and has no plans, or arrangements now or in the near future to dump PDP for any party.
“The APC people are desperadoes searching for unwarranted relevance.
Therefore, the can employ cheap blackmail to undermine the character of their opponents.
“Anyachie was among the PDP leaders who had leadership meeting in Nkwerre at the weekend. Instead of telling the public they have no members in Nkwerre, they are making false claim of Anyaechie joining them.
There is no APC in Nkwerre, what we have is only PDP. It is only the governor’s son-in-law Uche Nwosu who is the mark of APC in Nkwerre” he added.
