CGC Allowances Cause Wahala Okorocha, Coordinators At War Commissioner Faces Sack

imo state rescue

The community Government Council CGC in Imo State, witnessed an entresting development yesterday when the governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha disagreed with the coordinators on CGC members of the autonomous communities over allowances. The Executive secretaries of the 637 Autonomous Communities in Imo State were yesterday at Ahiajoku convention centre Owerri reported to have quoted the governor wrongly on the issue of the payment of CGC allowances while the state Governor maintained that the secretaries are not part of the allowance, the Coordinators disagreed and insisted that it was the Governor that directed that all members of the CGC including the secretary should take part in collecting allowance which he gave to communities recently.
Feelers revealed that greater percentage of the CGC Executive secretaries. led by their state co-ordinators have constituted themselves into a cabal whose set objectives are to negate the executive orders of his Excellency, Governor Rochas Okorocha and cause disharmony between the CGC members, their communities and the Governor through dissemination of false information. It was this back drop that prompted the Governor according to our source to come out openly during the stake holders meeting at Ahiajoku centre to debunk such false rumour. Those who spoke on the issue described the executive secretaries as greedy people who want to cheat, not minding the fact that they are fully paid as government workers and are full time local government staff who still receive their monthly salaries, yet want to tamper with the sitting allowance appropriated to only the CGC board by His Excellency.
The first was N50,000 being two time sitting allowance (N10,000 each) for the five CGC members namely, the Eze, Secretary, Women leader, youth leader, and CLO. On the coutrary and sadly too. The executive secretaries disbursed five thousand naira to each council members being the month sitting allowance except the Eze who got six thousand naira while the executive sec. collected N5,000 as well as the balance of N19,000.
Similarly, the masses at Ahiajoku convention centre last Monday passed vote of no confidence on some members of the House who came out to present their score card as directed by Governor Rochas Okorocha. The members were not only booed but jeered at by those present at the event held at Ahiajoku Hon. Luke Chukwu was given red card by his people including Ngozi Pat Ekeji, Simon Iwunze, Stan Dara and few others.
People from Nwangele gave kudos to their representative, Hon. Ugonna Ozurigbo after he presented his score card. The crowd however was not happy with the Governor when he tried in vain to be a praise singer for the House member who were accused of playing double standard, incompetence and causing confusion in the state.
