Wonders they say shall never end. That again is playing out in Owerri, the Imo state Capital when a middle aged man named Israel Dike, who is a native of Odenkume in Obowo council of the state attempted to offer his children for sale to willing bidders.
Residents of Owerri and indeed passers-by were stunned when they noticed a man carrying all his children in a wheelbarrow soliciting for would be buyers. People attracted the attention of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development Staffers rushed to the scene to rescue the children whose hands were tied by the father who resides on Egbu Road, in the state capital.
The man when confronted on reasons why he wants to sell the children revealed that bad condition buoyed by the fact that he lacks the wherewithal to maintain feeding of his family led to the attempt.
According to the man, the state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has a hand in his predicament stating that “Owelle is the cause of what I am passing through today” alleging that the governor failed to fulfill a promise he made to him in the past. “He made a promise to me in the past and has failed to redeem it till date, Dike said.
The Ministry has taken over the matter for proper investigation.
