The leadership of Movement for Actualization of Governing State of Biafra, led by Chief Ralph Uwazuruike has asked Igbo speaking people across the world to back President Goodluck Jonathan for the 2015 Presidential race.
Chief Uwazuruike made this known when the reinstated Chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Maxi Okwu led his executive council members on a courtesy visit to him in Owerri.
Speaking at the mini event held at Uwazuruike’s private residence in New Owerri, the Ijele Ndigbo as the MASSOB leader is fondly called said that Jonathan deserves the support of the Igbos adding that he began campaign for Jonathan’s second term since 2011.
Said he “Igbos must continue to support Jonathan because he is our brother and gave our leader, mentor and brother also, Dim Emeka Odimegwu-Ojukwu a befitting, fashionable and state burial. He showed concern and participated in the burial of our leader. With that he won my heart and that of Ndigbo. I don’t want to speak on other things because I am not a politician. With that I enjoined Ndigbo worldwide to support for now, every man must support Jonathan.
“As you see me, I am not a Nigerian, I am a Biafran. Since we have not gotten Biafran Republic, I urge our people to participate in whatever is happening in our country so that we don’t lose out”
According to Uwazuruike, “I am not a member of any party, but APGA is Igbo party. And it is the party instituted by our leader, Ojukwu and handed over to Ndigbo which shall continue after his death. I know everything about APGA that great party of Ndigbo. It is Ojukwu’s desire to reach all the Igbo-speaking states. Unfortunately, APGA leaders are trading with party as it is a family business”.
Ijele Ndigbo enjoined the Okwu-led leadership to be upright and move the party forward.
In his earlier address, Okwu who narrated his success story that culminated to the Federal High Court victory in Abuja, said that his return will mark another stage in the growth and development of APGA adding that there is not victor and no vanquish in the battle urging Umeh and group to sheath their sword and embrace peace for the growth of the party.
Okwu noted that his reclaiming of the party leadership is divine stating that he will reposition the party based on the ideals of the founding fathers and party leaders. He urged Umeh to cooperate with the new Exco by handing over and releasing inventory of everything in office.
Reasons for the visit to Uwazuruike, Okwu said that meeting Ijele at this crucial moment in Igboland became necessary as a mark of respect to leaders with high regards to the late APGA leader, Okwu used the forum to debunk insinuations that he is being sponsored by any governor adding that he acknowledges the stance of Anambra state governor and Party Deputy, National Leader, Peter Obi, to give President Jonathan support.
In a related development, Senator representing Owerri Zone, Senator Christy Anyanwu has been visited with unpleasantries by APGA members during BoT meeting. The incident happened during the BoT meeting where she was allegedly shouted down for objecting to a nomination of a female as member of BoT of the party. The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has appointed the Anambra State Governor, Mr Peter Obi as its National Leader and Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) to replace the late Ikemba Nnewi, Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Chukwu.
The appointment was made at the National Executive Committee meeting of the party held on Saturday in Awka, the Anambra State Capital.
Obi appointment was based on his contributions to keep the party alive in the state for the past 11 years.
Also at the resolution of the party’s meeting was the Vote of Confidence passed on Chief Victor Umeh as the National Chairman.
Other resolutions taken at the NEC meeting was that 30 members of the BoT were approved, as well as to set up a committee to review the party’s constitution.
Also the NEC was mandated to fill in the existing vacant positions, while National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly who are members of APGA were approved as members of the party’s NEC.
The meeting was approved BoT Chairman and Secretary as members of the NEC. Finally, the date of the party’s National Convention has been fixed on February 15, 2014. It was gathered at the meeting that, when Mrs Ann Dozie as the first female nominated by the National Chairman of APGA, as part of BoT member, in recognition and appreciation of her bravely posture, when she was intimidated by APC to win over to the party, which she rejected, her nomination was objected by Sen Chris Anyanwu represent Owerri Zone, in a rage manner as she was shouted down by the party members, but was not to give up, despite the fact that the governor-elect of Anambra State had seconded the motion, describing the nomination of Mrs Dozie as a well deserving one for resistance and honesty and patriotism to the party.
Senator Anyanwu’s act was condemned by many especially NEC members from the Northern and South West Zones, noting that such obnoxious behaviour did not depict the character of real distinguished Senator.
However, reacting on the issue, media consultant to Anyanwu, Mr Evarest Ezihe said “There is no iota of truth in that story. It is an unjust blackmail. The Senator merely protested of having two BoT positions earmarked for Imo State to be hijacked by Sir Martin Agbaso and Lady Ann Dozie both from Emekuku Owerri North instead of spreading one of the positions to other Senatorial Zones of the state as equity and fairness demands. Her protest was convincingly accepted by the national leaders of the party thus, Mrs Peace Ekeanyanwu and Mrs Veronica from Orlu and Okigwe Zones respectively were included thus given Imo four members as against two”.
Meanwhile the Imo State Caretaker Committee of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), has sent a note of warning to political prostitutes and political businessmen to look else where, away from APGA, as they will not fall for the antics of platform seekers like Okorocha and his foot soldiers again.
This resolution was made public at the recent inauguration of the 27 council executives of the party at the State Party Secretariat, Egbu road Owerri by the Caretaker Committee Chairman, Hon Chudi Onuzo, who averred that the betrayal and disservice melted to the party by Gov Rochas Okorocha has taught the party a painful but wise lesson, which will help to guide the party in the forthcoming 2015 general election.
Speaking further, the party disclosed that people who are not committed members of the party for a given period of time will never be considered for any elective position let alone getting the candidacy to flag the party’s flag in the general election of 2015.
On the issue of Governor Rochas Okorocha’s cross-carpet to All Progressive Congress (APC), the party disclosed that they have instituted a legal suit against him to reclaim their mandate, submitting that the mandate of the people is only given to party not person/flag bearer.
Reacting on the sack of the embattle National Chairman of the party, Chief Victor Umeh, by Federal High Court Abuja, the Imo Chapter of APGA said that the action is nothing but mission impossible as the Appeal Court has earlier quashed same ruling.
