Duruaku Soccer Tourney

It was indeed a glamorous and scintillating outing in the lives of the people of Ideator North and South on Friday December 27, at the Central School field Dunukofia, as theJoe Duruaku Secondary School football competition for all the Government Schools in Ideator nation entered its crescendo.
The competition which kicked-off about three months ago and was powered by the philanthropic and illustrious son of the area, Chief Joseph Duruaku (Bilton) saw about 17 Government Schools contesting for supremacy.
In the final game played on Friday December 27, National High School Ntueke defeated Technical Secondary School Obodoukwu 2 1 to cart away the coveted trophy while Iheme Memorial Secondary School edged out Umuma Isiaku Secondary School to emerge as the third best team.
Addressing the crowed immediately after the game, the donor informed that he was motivated to invest into sports development so that the young children who are blessed with special talents but do not have any hope can be exposed through the school soccer competition.
Above all, Bilton maintained that the gesture was also to further illustrate his undying love to his people as well as to help foster peace and unity among Ideator nation.
He however highlighted that with the 2013 edition haven come to a successful conclusion, his plans for 2014 is to take the competition to greater and bigger level.
In their separate remarks, Eng Johnson Duru (TC Chairman), Hi-Chief Bonny Ebili, Chief Marcel Nwosu, Ho Maxwel Nwokeji and Chief Emeka Duru among others showered praises on the sponsor for deeming it fit to bankroll such a gigantic project while urging all and sundry to emulate the patriotic nature of Chief Duruaku.
The winner of the championship, National high School were rewarded with the sum off N300, 000 in addition to the trophy and medals while the first, second and third runners-up received N200, 000, N100, 000 and N50, 000 respectively.

…Salutes Ihiagwa Youths for a Successful Soccer Tourney

The honorable Commissioner for Industry and Informal Sector, Hon Barr Ugochi Nnanna Okoro (Lady of the Masses), has called for a serious attention on female football especially in Imo State stating that the state is blessed with arrays of raw talents that are begging to be harnessed.
Emphasizing on the need for competitions to engage the young ladies, ‘Lady of the Masses’ who promised to sponsor a Female Soccer Tournament later this year in Ihiagwa Community, made her intentions known during the final game of the Ihiagwa Unity Football Competition which took place at Ihiagwa Central School field on Saturday January 3 and was ably powered by Lady of the Masses herself.
In her earlier statement after the match which was played between Umuokwu and Ibuzo, Hon Ugochi praised the players for participating keenly during the games while congratulating the winners and the gallant losers.
The former Commissioner former for CGC however used the opportunity to enumerate the numerous infrastructural, developmental and monumental projects that His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha has achieved within a short period of time admonishing Ihiagwa as well as Owerri-West LGA youths to cue into the Rescue Mission system.
The competition which kicked off on December 24, 2013 with all the eight Villages in Ihiagwa competing for the coveted trophy saw Umuchima beat Ibuzo in the final via penalty shoot-out while Umuokwu also defeated Nkaramoche in the third place final as the winner took home N50, 000 while the second and third placed teams pocketed N40, 000 and N30, 000 respectively along other individual prizes.
