Following the hardship imposed on the masses by the recent unprecedented closure of Banks in Imo State, one of the eminent members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Jerry Chukwueke (Ohamadike Ndi Owerre) has advised the Imolities not to vote for Governor Rochas Okorocha for any political position in 2015.
Speaking at the public presentation of a Book titled “Election Logistics Compendium held at Dream Land Hotel, Owerri, Imo State, Chief Jerry Chukwueke who was represented at the occasion by his Aide, Hon Prince Bath Obi said that Governor Rochas Okorocha has punished the Imolites who turned-out enmass to voted for him as the Governor of the state in 2011 via his awareness of the Banks closure in this yuletide period.
“Imolites came out enmass in 2011 and voted for Governor Okorocha. The masses are disappointed. Why did he close Banks instead of improving people’s way of life? You cannot raise Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) at the detriment of the masses”, he maintained.
He posited that the only way through which Governor Okorocha has paid back Imolites what they have done for him is to close Banks and passed abortion law in the state. He further commended the author of the Book, Virginus Opara for putting together an intellectual work that has a comprehensive study of electoral process in Imo State adding that politicians and students should get copies of the book for future better election in the state.
In his speech, the Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Imo State Council, Sir Innocent Igwe explained that NUJ chose to partner with the author of the Book for its possible public presentation.
Chief Sir Igwe maintained that a critical study of the Book by the politicians would reposition the political scenario in Imo State. He thanked those who graced the occasion despite their busy schedules.
