STANDARD OF IMO STATE UNIVERSITY HAS DECLINED —-Says Jerry Chukwueke

Chairman of the Contact and Mobilization Committee of the Imo state Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), CHIEF Jerry Chukwueke have recently decried the decline in the standard of Imo State University to a hundred and eleven (111) out of a hundred and twelve (112) ranked universities in Nigeria, and blamed it on bad governance and policy lapses by the present administration in Imo state led by Rochas Okorocha.
Chief Chukwueke who stated this while addressing the people and members of PDP at Saint John’s Anglican Church in Ideato-North local government area, noted that Imo state University has since inception of Governor Rochas Okorocha ‘s administration lost accreditation to over four faculty’s including Law and Medicine.
The PDP Chieftain further noted that Imo state University which governor Rochas Okorocha claims he has been given free education/scholarship,has made students and parents to pay more than they used to pay during previous administrations.
He pointed out that education is an essential necessity to an ordinary Imolite, as Imo state has the largest number of youths demanding for university education and also the largest number of educated individuals.
Chief Jerry Chukwueke re-iterated President Jonathan’s commitment towards education adding that his administration has instituted an additional 12 universities Nationwide, with the aim of revitalizing Nigerian Universities, the President has disbursed over N200billion to ASUU for the next 5 years.
However feelers gathered by Trumpeta campus gist crew, showed that observers, parents, and students are condemning the indirect inflation of Imo state University fees especially on acceptance; others stated that with the increase in the Imo state university subvention fund from N50million to N250million students should have paid lesser, but the reverse is the case considering the cheque issued by the state government.
