My attention has been drawn to the fact that the former Special Adviser to the Governor on Project Monitoring, Prince Macdonald Akano was not present at the recent day of the liberation from freedom celebration at the Freedom Square, Owerri. It is important to state that Prince Akano is entitled to his views as this column entertains rejoinders and right of reply where people were either misquoted or misrepresented. Though, the mentioning of Prince Akano indicates that he could have been physically present, but since it is claimed to be otherwise, then it is a case of mistaken identity which is not unusual in such commentary or article. The number of ex-appointees present at the event, coupled with faded light at the venue caused the mix up and improper identification.
However, it is important to note that mentioning of Akano’s name was not done in bad faith and there was no intent whatsoever to malign or defame his person or character as the case may be since he was not accused of committing any alleged offence or misdemeanor at the event.
The embarrassment and mix-up it may have caused the Prince of Isu ancient kingdom in Nwangele LGA, is therefore regretted. It was not a deliberate act since the report is personal expression of the writer and not the editorial view or report of the medium (Trumpeta).
