The Commissioner for Community Government, Culture & Traditional Affairs, Chief Val Mbamala has been bestowed with the icon award for promoting Igbo Culture.
Conferring the Award on Chief Mbamala, the Chief Executive Officer of a Socio- cultural group called Umuaka Igbo Taa, Mrs. Chidi Oparah Ibeleche, stated that the Award was in recognition of the efforts of the recipient towards the promotion, preservation of Igbo cultural heritage, especially since his recent appointment as the Commissioner for Community Government, Culture and Traditional Affairs.
Mrs. Opara told the Commissioner, that the Umuaka Igbo taa is a socio-Cultural group with the objectives of preserving, promoting and inculcating Igbo Cultural heritage on the youths of Igbo extraction.
Receiving the Award, Chief Mbamala expressed surprised that within few weeks of appointment as a Commissioner, he was nominated for the icon Award and stated that it would spout him to do more in reviving, promoting and preserving our Cultural heritage, which he said that has been adulterated by western
Culture.
Chief Mbamala stressed on the need for parents of Igbo extraction to teach their younger once their mother tongue, noting that other tribes in the Country jealously guide and promote their own mother language.
According to him, as one of measures to preserve, promote and inculcate Igbo language and values on the younger generation, his Ministry would introduce Igbo language and proverb Competition in the state, where Communities would be encouraged to participate.
He also made Igbo language compulsory Official language in the Ministry every Friday.
Meanwhile the People of Alatia Amala in Ngor Okpala LGA have been advised to sheath their sword and embrace peace in order to move the community forward.
The Commissioner for Community Government, Culture & Traditional Affairs, Chief Val Mbamala gave the advice during a peace resolution meeting with different factions in the community.
Chief Mbamala who appealed to the Traditional Ruler of the Community, Eze B. O Uduhirinwa to change his administrative style, stated that no meaningful development can take place in any community, where there is no peace between the traditional ruler and his subjects.
The Commissioner used the forum to call on all the Traditional rulers to emulate the administrative style of Governor Okorocha, whom he described as God fearing and puts God first in everything.
He equally advised the warring factions to embrace the olive branch and ensure that all the court cases are withdrawn in order to restore peace and maintain the ties that bind them together.
Responding, the Traditional ruler, Eze B.O Uduhirinwa and the ThankGod Okere family thanked the commissioner for the peace resolution meeting and assured him that they would go home and make peace.
