Orlu LGA Agric Department set to boost sector

Staff members of the Agricultural Sector in Orlu Local Government have been reminded that the huge government investment in the department is a challenge to test their competence and resolve in the discharge of their professional duties.
The Director of Administration and General Services (DAGS) in the council, Chief R.O Dike made this known during the official take off of the poultry section of the farm. The DAGS reminded the staff that the Governor has a great vision of creating wealth and employment through the resuscitation of the Agric sector of the economy; hence he has approved and released huge sums of money for all the local governments to revive the sector. Chief Dike stated that Orlu is starting with the poultry as the pens and environment has been made conducive for a successful poultry farm.
He pointed out that the fishery section will soon be stocked once the renovations of the ponds are completed.
The DAGS also reminded them that some hectares of land has been secured at Achara Aba in Orlu LGA for integrated farming and said that hence we step into raining season; the farming will kick-off.
Meanwhile, over five hundred birds were procured and are expected to be ready for sale by the end of the year.
Responding, the HOD of the department, Engr Anaebunwa and a senior livestock officer in the department, Mr Loveday Ndukwe stated that the department has the expertise to manage the farms and promised that the aim of reviving the sector will be achieved. They further commented that they have been looking for such opportunity to showcase their potentials in Agriculture and pledged their unalloyed supports in the execution of the project.
