Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Nze Ignatius Umunna have called for the mobilization of both the state, National and Diaspora leaders to strongly re-affirming their commitment towards the party and make amends of mistakes made in the past so as to ensure victory in the up-coming polls.
Nze Ignatus Umunna who disclosed this during a courtesy call at his residence in Oru West Local government area by the Chairman of the Contact and Mobilization Committee of the PDP, Chief Jerry Chukwueke, also noted that opposition party’s are limited in Oru West LGA as he noted that in every 10% of Oru -West indigenes, over 8% are members of the PDP.
In a message delivered at the PDP rally held at Saint Joseph primary school play ground, Nze Ignatus Umunna pointed-out that the recently publicized sale of Concorde Hotel was being purchased by Governor Rochas Okorocha and his accomplice and condemned his unfavorable policies.
He however expressed regrets over the last gubernatorial election in Imo state and lauded recent achievements of PDP through the Chairman of the Contact and Mobilization Committee of the PDP, and encouraged them to keep-up the good work.
Speaking, Chairman of the Contact and Mobilization Committee of the PDP, Chief Jerry Chukwueke in his statements noted that the party needs active participants in winning the up-coming polls, he stated that PDP as a party is far more important than any individual as he stressed need for constructive criticisms in the interest of the party.
Chief Jerry Chukwueke charged new and old members to utilize the internal-democracy being practiced by the party adding that PDP is still a National party which consistently accommodated various religious and ethnic groups. He further disclosed that the President will via for the next Presidential election come 2015.
The PDP Chieftain condemned some policies of the present administration stressing that no foreign investor have been attracted to the state with abandoned roads and skeletal infrastructural projects littered all over the state by the Rescue Mission.
Earlier, the Chairman of Oru-West PDP Sule Odimega (KSM) in his remark pointed that despite the challenges being faced, Oru-West PDP remained intact as he assures victory for all PDP aspirants in the next poll.
Local government Council Chairman of Oru-West Chief John Ugaliegbulam and Barr Leo Mgbenwelu in their remarks also stated that the party PDP still holds firm in Oru-West LGA as it has also come alive again through, Chief Jerry Chukwueke led Contact and Mobilization Committee.
Meanwhile the Imo State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Chairman during Dr Achike Udenwa’s reign as the Governor of the State, Dr Edwin Chibundu Anyanwu has reacted to the purported return of the ex-Governor to the PDP fold after his sojourn in other parties, describing it as a good omen for the ex-Governor to enable him apologize to Imo people for his failure to consolidate on the leadership structure of the state and correct all the anomalities caused by that failure to the party, PDP and the entire people of Imo.
Dr Anyanwu disclosed that Udenwa was loved by the people for his landmark achievements as a Governor, except that he listened to some political undertakers, blackmailers and found himself in a wrong lane and abandoned and betrayed his people in PDP to join ACN later APC which has no national but tribal outlook. He also averred that the inability of Udenwa in 2007 general election to produce a successor and subsequent dumping of PDP marred the political hierarchy in Imo and opened up the state for grabs to political jobbers, opportunists and businessmen.
However, Dr Anyanwu said that as he has been given the option to be back to the PDP family which has a nationalistic stand point, Udenwa should be thinking of how to apologize so as to correct past mistakes and carry the people he abandoned since 2007, as he has another opportunity to produce a successor for the good people of Imo.
Anyanwu also revealed that the PDP family is waiting for him with open heart and arms, as he advised him to do away with any particular group as all political groups will gladly work with him when he eventually returns home to a national platform, PDP. “Because he is a real man for the state, to use his wealth of administrative and political will to better the party and the state in general”, Dr Anyanwu stated.
