An astute politician and a two time member of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Independence Ogulewe, who represented Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency between 2003-2011 has described Okorocha’s dumping of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA and his description of the party as cultural group as a betrayal and unacceptable especially to the departed soul of late Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu and the good people of Imo State.
Speaking to Journalists in Owerri over the weekend, Hon Ogulewe averred that by so doing, Okorocha might have lost the trust of Imo electorate, leaving them with no other option than to look for a better, reliable and trusted leader in 2015 thereby creating vacancy in the governorship seat of the state in the general election.
He disclosed that Okorocha’s romance with All Progressive Congress (APC) is a disadvantage to his second term ambition as the generality of South Easterners, and Imo people in particular, are not comfortable with founders of the party considering previous encounters and experiences with them.
Hon Ogulewe, maintained that although it could be said that Okorocha has no administrative blue print and his projects have no economic advantage to the state, but that he succeeded in playing and winning the fantasies of a large number of Imo people which would have favoured him in the 2015 guber election if he had remained in APGA but his movement to APC has raised the fear of Okorocha’s betrayal, unreliability and untrustworthy among Imo electorate which will be against him in 2015 election.
However, the former federal lawmaker indicted the Imo State House of Assembly over its inability to live up to its responsibilities of checkmating the excesses of the Executive. He lashed at the members for approving a four year rolling budget for the governor instead of four year rolling plan, where they will approve people oriented and economically viable projects.
He extolled the leadership qualities of the President Goodluck Jonathan, who he said inspite all challenges has done very well in keeping the country together while improving on the economy. Hon Ogulewe thanked the President for upgrading the Enugu Airport to International status, positing that it will only take a President with the interest of the Southeast at heart to do that, knowing the politics and challenges associated to it as a one time Chairman Committee in the National Assembly.
