Okorocha’s Transition Programme Hits Rock
.Governor-Elect Absent, In Germany For Official Function
The out-going Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha’s Transition programe that will climax with the swearing-in of the in-coming Governor, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, may not go as planned, as the Governor-Elect is still on over sea tour on official functions.
According to information available, to Trumpeta, after much foot-dragging, Governor Okorocha formed a Transition Committee to plan for the swearing-in ceremony of May 29, 2019, without first consulting with his would-be successor to know his schedules.
Sources told Trumpeta that because of this lapse, Ihedioha had earlier already made his own plans, which could not correspond with Okorocha’s plan.
Therefore, the Okorocha Transition programme which commenced on May 29, 2019, with a “meeting with the Governor and Governor-Elect” for the “inauguration of Joint Committee, Tour of Government House” which holds at Government House Owerri on May 2, 2019 could not hold because of the absence of the Governor-elect.
Indications are that the second programe scheduled for May 3rd 2019, which is “Governor and Governor-Elect Meeting with Transition Rulers” may also not hold.
Meanwhile, in a Release signed by Chibuike Onyeukwu, the Media Aide to the Governor- elect, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, it was stated clear that Ihedioha will be away in Germany from May 2nd-4th 2019, for an event at World Conference Centre in Bonn, Germany.
“The Governor elect, in his quest to explore investment opportunities for the State, will also hold strategic meetings dimed at seeking the cooperation of several development Partners from all over the world who will attend the event”.
Close sources to the Governor-Elect who spoke to Trumpeta said that Ihedioha did not shun Okorocha’s Transition programmes as being insinuated in some quarters, but is attending to important functions and events earlier booked before the Okorocha Transition Committee released their programme.
“There is no sense in making insinuations. Ihedioha travelled for important function that will benefit Imo State. He will join in the other programes immediately he returns home from over sea” a source told Trumpeta.
Faces To Miss in Govt House Owerri After
Faces To Miss In Govt House Owerri After May 29th
By Onyekachi Eze
As the transition to usher in another regime commences today, it is certain some faces would likely be missed from Government House, Owerri.
The seat of power in Imo State, otherwise known as Douglas House in the past before the incumbent christened it “Peoples” in the past eight years have characters who made it thick.
Since Okorocha’s tenure is about to expire and his likelihood of controlling the affairs of the state from May 29, 2019 very remote, some faces definitely shall be missed in the place.
NNEOMA OKOROCHA
Apart from the governor, his wife Nneoma Okorocha is the main figure to join. The Governor’s wife can be said to be the controlling force behind the scene in Okorocha’s government. Her political structures are superb and she is well known in the place.
Trumpeta learnt that her popularity within Govt House circle and formation of various groups with lieutenants made her the de facto governor. When things are not in proper shape, Nneoma comes into action. She will be missed.
UCHE NWOSU: A key figure in the administration of Okorocha from 2011 when he was Deputy Chief of Staff. Even when he was appointed Commissioner, Nwosu was a regular at Govt House. His command of the location was strengthened later following his appointment in 2015 as Chief of Staff. Nwosu was more or less in charge of Govt House affairs even when he resigned to run for the governorship race.
PASCHAL OBI: For over seven years, the former Principal Secretary to Okorocha, Paschal Obi dictated the pace of affairs of the Government House. The governor’s kinsman was powerful because all official matters coming out from Government House was through him during the Okorocha golden era until he resigned to run federal house race of Ideato. A strong ally of the governor and advocate of Rescue Mission, he was responsible for all details that emanated from Govt House.
KINGSLEY UJU:
Another powerful figure who will be missed in Douglas House as Okorocha vacates is Kingsley Uju. Though he came from nowhere in terms of political pedigree, but warmed into the heart of the Okorocha family to occupy a vital space in the administration. After working as their contract executive, Uju came in as the Deputy Chief of Staff Operations Govt House. The position made him a co-landlord and another oracle to behold.
OGECHI OLOLO: From the Okorocha family came the governor’s younger sister, Ogechi Ololo. From the inception of Okorocha administration, the younger sister became a power broker that can’t fail to be mentioned as one of the strong pillars of the governor in Govt House. She was the Deputy Chief of Staff (Domestic) and currently Commissioner for Happiness and Couples Fulfillment. Anyone who had any business with the governor was through her. She was powerful to an extent to earn “Nwanne Governor” nickname.
LASBERY OKAFORANYANWU:
The Commissioner of Transport at a time was a resident of Govt House. There was in time he was not spotted in Douglas House except in other functions as he was always around to consult with the Governor. visitors and workers in Govt House feel his office was in Govt House where he was reported to have formulated the decision to remove Keke and manage ITC Lasbery has been a trusted aide to Okorocha who the governor always consults in certain affairs.
UGOCHI NNWNNA OKORO:
Since she joined Okorocha two years after the governor was sworn in. the politician who claims to be the Lady of the masses decided to make Govt House, Owerri her second home.
Despite Commissioner and other vital positions she has held, the affinity with the Governor’s wife, Nneoma brought her close to Okorocha and made her part of those who warmed the Govt House premises.
KEN EJIOGU:
Even as he was known of late because he succeeded his kinsman, Uche Nwosu as Chief of Staff, Ken Ejiogu will be missed. At the resignation of Nwosu, Ejiogu was next in line of action and discharged his duties as the appointee in charge of government house workers and other categories of hangers on.
JOSEPHINE UDORJI:
No day passed during the hey days of Okorocha administration that Mrs Josephine Udorji was not found within Govt House pavilion. Her vital ministry as commissioner of works made her a regular visitor to Govt House because of the attachment Okorocha has for block works and other construction projects. She can be mistaken to be the spokesperson of Imo State Government. Therefore, she stormed Govt House daily from briefs.
EMMA OJINERE:
How he came up strongly from the opposition to warm into the heart of Okorocha can be attributed to his frequent visits to Govt House. It was not surprising that he merited a commissioner ticket and was later backed by Okorocha to get Owerri zone senate ticket for APC. Before now, the dark skinned Ojinere paraded Govt House regularly to be taken as one of those to be missed in the next dispensation.
SAM ONWUEMEODO:
The irascible media aide of Okorocha will surely top rank of those to be missed. The pint sized Journalist with penchant for abrasive write ups that always pitched him and his principal against others and Journalists won’t have the license to scribe out press releases on behalf of Okorocha. More so, he would seize to take charge and treat his colleagues in unfair manner in Govt House and Okorocha functions which became part of his unsavory trademark.

Imo First Lady Position:
Ihedioha’s Wife Set To Take Over From Nneoma Okorocha
.As Both Meet InAbuja
As May 29 is fast approaching for change of power in Government House, Owerri, the women folk are not left out in the transition program.
From developments in Aso Rock, Abuja where wives of outgoing governors with the incoming ones at a dinner, it has become obvious that the spouse of the incumbent governor of Imo State, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha, by now is about to bid bye to Government House, Owerri where she and the hubby expectedly would vacate office on May 29th.
In the case of Nneoma Okorocha, who would be remembered by majority of the women for her kind gestures to the less privilege in the society, including the She Needs A Roof Project, SNARP project, the wife of the governor-elect, Ebere Ihedioha is already warming up to step into the position.
Trumpeta learnt that Nneoma Okorocha has started the handing over programs by being part of the outgoing governor’s wives meeting with the incoming ones at the Aso Rock for the event.
At the event, a gorgeously dressed Nneoma Okorocha was spotted alongside the modest Lady Ihedioha at the hall.
Their presence confirmed an imminent change of guard change of guard in the next few weeks.

.Workers Salaries May Not Be Paid Until After May 29
By Samuel Ibezim
There are strong indications that the financial state of the Imo State account is in a bad shape following yet to be confirmed reports that the accounts of the state may have been stepped upon by anti graft bodies.
Sequel to alleged petitions said to have been written by some persons in the state to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and Independent Corruption Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, against the outgoing administration of Governor Rochas Okorocha, the anti-corrupt bodies have swooped on the some of the state’s financial accounts.
The current non- payment of workers’ salaries and pensions arrears may be linked to this development and it is feared that it would linger till after May 29 when Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, incoming governor would officially assume seat of power.
Rochas Okorocha was accused of embarking on illegal financial transactions and back dating of some government documents and certificate of occupancy among other illegalities.
However, Mark Uchendu, the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, laughed it off by describing it as usual norm for opposition party to query the financial status of an outgoing administration, especially during a transition period.
It would be recalled that some days to the last gubernatorial elections in the state, the acting accountant general of Imo State, Uzoho Casmir, was arrested by EFCC for illegal withdrawal of over one billion naira for the purpose of inducing the electorates to vote Uche Nwosu as next Imo State governor.

Host Community Rejects Removal of Imo Poly Removal
.Says, Last Minute Establishment of Varsity A Deceit
Rejects Fr Wence Madu
By Onyekachi Eze
Indigenes of Umuagwo, in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area, Imo State have rejected the removal and relocation of the Imo State Polytechnic Umuagwo to Ehime Mbano, describing it as one of the last minute projects of the Okorocha administration with deceitful tendencies.
It would be recalled that the outgoing governor, Rochas Okorocha recently got the NUC accreditation, opening new University, Polytechnics and colleges of education across the state.
Consequent to that, Imo Poly Umuagwo was relocated to Ehime Mbano LGA with a campus at the site of Ahiara Poly in Ahiazu Mbaise.
Okorocha however established Imo State University of Agriculture and Environmental Science at the premises of the Imo Poly Umuagwo.
Meanwhile, the host community in a protest match at the Imo Poly gate at the early hours of yesterday stiffly resists the planned relocation of the institution.
According to a protest letter signed by the 6 village chairmen of Umuagwo, viz, Sir Casmir Amadi, Bethram Ohagwam, Romanus Diwe, Hyginus Ihenetu, Nnamdi Agugwo, and Henry Okoma, copied to the Governor-Elect Rt. Hon, Emeka Ihedioha. Executive Secretary Nigerian University Commission (NUC), Executive Secretary National Board for Technical Education. The Polytechnic Council Chairman, the Police Commissioner Imo State Police Command, The Director of State Security Services (DSS), they claimed such late establishment is a deceit and should be vehemently resisted.
In the same vein, they called for the immediate removal of the Rector, Rev Fr Wence Madu, describing him as the architect of all the plot and backwardness experienced in the Polytechnic.
“Our attention has been drawn to the purported removal of Imo State Polytechnic Umuagwo and establishment of Imo State University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at the complex. In all intent and purposes, the action is a grand deceit and high level subterfuge by the outgoing administration, in connivance with the over stayed Rector of the institution, who claims to be a Priest, Fr. Wence Madu to completely destroy the institution and deal decisively with the host community”.
“Recall that in the eight years of Gov. Rochas Okorocha, this administration only considered it necessary to remove Imo State Polytechnic Umuagwo and changed it to Imo State University of Agric and environmental sciences, 34 days to its exit, showing that it was an action done in bad faith which cannot stand. More so, the Rector, Fr. Wence Madu who had over spent his stay as head of the institution was ridiculously appointed chancellor and chairman of the board. Fr. Wence came in as Rector in 2011 and his tenure ended 2017, yet he has been in charge till date. His qualification is doubt to be a Rector”.
“The host community, Umuagwo has it on good note that the said Fr. Madu's mission to the institution in Umuagwo was to destroy Imo State Polytechnic Umuagwo. Earlier sign of his mischief started immediately he was appointed Rector, when the selfish balkanization of the courses and creation of multi campus system commenced. The action led to the removal of several courses out of Imo State Polytechnic Umuagwo. He also stated the utter anihilation of host communities by denying them rights and privileges in the institution as well as the alleged mismanagement of the resources meant for the development of the school.”
“Unfortunately after his five years tenure expired, two years ago, the Rector purportedly claimed that his tenure was extended for two years which is against the Edit establishing the Polytechnic and NBTE rules governing the Polytechnic. As at today, staff Members of Imo State Polytechnic are owed backlog of salaries even as it was at an unacceptable 80%. The appointment of Fr. Madu as chancellor and Chairman of the board of the so called Imo State University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences is not acceptable to the host community and won't stand.”
“It has also been discovered that the so called University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences is a sham private partnership arrangement orchestrated by Rector and acolytes to subtly remove Imo State Polytechnic from Umuagwo and take over our land for the selfish gains.”
“It has also been observed that the plot to remove Imo State Polytechnic Umuagwo for the University is another design to deny Umuagwo the host community status of Imo State Polytechnic considering that Imo State government has no capacity to fund the newly established varsities. So, after Imo State' Polytechnic has been removed, the so called University will die a natural death.”
“In view of the non consideration of the interest of the Host community and continued stay of the Rector whose tenure had expired years ago, the host community is saying No to the attempt to give its land to Fr. Wence Madu and co under the University arrangement.”
“The host community is also not comfortable with this dying minute policy of the Okorocha Government.”
“We say No to the fake University; leave our Imo State Polytechnic for us in Umuagwo. Let Fr. Wence Madu Go.”
