Discordant tunes capable of disrupting peace and harmony reigning among Traditional Rulers in Imo State sympathetic to Eze Sam Agunwa Ohiri, who is regarded by chairman of the council of traditional rulers (Ndi Eze), are brewing.
In the last count, Eze Ohiri’s supposed Deputies, Ezes Emma Okeke and Chidume Okoro, incharge of Orlu and Owerri zones respectively are observing cold war over certain differences in the leadership of Ndi Eze Imo.
Trumpeta learnt that the cold war blew open yesterday when the two deputies shunned an event Ohiri organized to recognize and honour the controversial Eze Igbo title for Ndi Igbo in Diaspora. The event was scheduled for the secretariat of Ndi Eze near Concorde Hotel, Owerri before Ohiri who suspected it could be another trap to nail him by Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, who was reinstated by Appeal Court, for contempt of court and impersonation, changed venue to Government House Owerri.
At the Government House, the event could not take place when Ohiri noticed that his Deputy objected to the recognition.
A dejected Ohiri however failed to give staff of office to the affected Ezeigbo by informing them that instead of Eze ndi Igbo title, they shall be identified and called “Ochi Igbo” adding that staff of office and recognition would be marked at their respective area of domain indue course.
The absence of the two Deputies may not be unconnected with the planned recognition of the Eze Ndigbo which Okeke and Okoro reportedly kicked against. The Deputies are enjoying support of Imo Ezes opposed to it
