This is not the best of times for the General Manager of the Owerri Capital Development Authority, OCDA, TPL Iheanyi Abakwume, who is cooling his head in one of the cells of the Nigeria Police Command, Imo state capital Owerri.
The Imo state police command, yesterday arrested him in his house at Aladinma Owerri, where the police allegedly discovered and recovered suspected incriminating and offensive item including gun, and substances believed to be banned drugs, called Indian hemp.
This newspaper learnt that trouble came his way when he ignored several invitations to the command forcing the police issue a warrant of arrest on Mr Abakwume as the last option when he ignored all the grace extended to him by the Imo police command over series of allegations leveled against him from different quarters and persons in the state.
However, the police in the early hours of yesterday moved to the premises for the arrest of the OCDA boss. In the course of the arrest undertaken by a unit of the command, his house was search where offensive and suspected incriminating items were allegedly found in his house. OCDA has in recent times turned to a nightmare to residents of the state leading to several petition targeted against the agency by aggrieved persons.
Responding, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Joy Elemoko confirmed the arrest but submitted that the police is still investigation the matter.
