A philanthropist and American based medical practitioner, Dr Obioma Sylvester Agomuoh has explained reasons why he is aspiring to become the Executive Governor of Imo State in 2015.
Dr Agomuoh while briefing some Journalists last week Friday, at his country home in Amorji-Ogbe in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State revealed that his main motive of eyeing Imo governorship seat is to ensure good governance in Imo State.
He pointed out that Imo State needs a comprehensive health care system and health insurance scheme where Imolites can easily access medical attention in order to avoid medical trip at abroad.
“Establishment of comprehensive health-care system with qualified doctors will put a stop to the incessant medical trip at India, Israel and United States of America. Health insurance scheme will serve as medical undertaker for the Imolites especially the less privileged citizens who may not afford medical bills either travel to abroad for their medical treatment. There is need for establishment of government pharmacies in all the local government areas of Imo State”, he maintained.
According to him, nursing homes that would regularly respond to the health-being of the elderly persons and physically challenged persons still be established in Imo state.
The medical expert expressed the need to equip hospitals with necessary facilities and qualified doctors adding that Emergency health care system should be subsidizes in Imo State to address impromptu medical need of the people.
Dr Agomuoh maintained that introduction of mechanized Agricultural System and qualitative education will be his paramount policy if elected the governor of Imo state come 2015.
“I will introduce a qualitative educational system that would spur our young graduates to compete in the international labour market. Farmers will be encouraged so as to boost food production in Imo state”, he assured.
He further disclosed that he will partner with Federal Government to attract Federal Institutions including Law School, International Airport, Research Institute, Embassies among others to Imo state.
Earlier, Dr Obioma Agomuoh commended Dr Goodluck Jonathan for signing power sector from central source to private companies adding that the decision would boost power supply in the country.
Similarly, Dr Sylvester Obioma Agomuoh Widows and Orphans Relief Foundation team led by Ambassador Crossbi Ukachi has putting smiles on the faces of orphans and widows in Ngor-Umuneke in Ngor-Okpala LGA of Imo state.
The Foundation team donated relied materials including bags of rice, cartons of tomato, soap, exercise books, biro pen, treated reading glasses among other gift items to the less privileged in the area.
The team also extended its charity gesture to Mbaitoli LGA recently where the less privileged in the area precisely Ubomiri Ward and other parts of the council area benefited from the foundation.
It could be recalled that Dr Obioma Foundation has positively touched the lives of the widows, orphans and physically challenged persons in the 30 wards of Mbaise nation, some parts of Okigwe Zone and other areas of Imo state.
