Indications that the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha would henceforth administer affairs of the state outside his jurisdiction have emerged as the state governor has concluded arrangements to relocate to Anambra State for now.
Reasons for Okorocha’s new found love for neighbouring Anambra State is not far-fetched. The desire to ensure that the candidate of his new choice party, APC, for the coming Anambra gubernatorial contest, Dr Chris Ngige carries the day, is what has prompted the Imo number one citizen to go into forced exile to Awka.
Okorocha made this revelation about making Anambra State his temporary abode at Emmaus House, in Awka, after being made the leader of the APC national campaign committee for Ngige guber contest.
While advocating for Ngige’s candidacy as a remarkable brand that is a tested hand having proved his mettle after for 34 months as Anambra Governor, the Imo state governor said “all the other candidates of parties for the November 16 governorship election are no match to Ngige. Ngige has proved himself in his first outing that he is a leader of the people, a warrior in the strict sense of it who has made the welfare of the people he leads his concern. He lives his life for the ordinary people and that stands him out”.
Speaking further, Okorocha stated; “I will relocate to Anambra State to lead Ngige’s campaign. I will be here and match his opponents eyeball-to-eyeball. I want to tell them that the day a warrior was born in one community was the day his equal was born in another distant community”.
It would be recalled that Okorocha has been a regular visitor to Anambra State especially Awka of late. Apart from taking charge of APC proceedings for the forthcoming guber election, his master-stroke and political escapades led to the emergence of Ngige as APC favoured candidate.
In the past few weeks, Okorocha has been shuttling between Awka and Owerri to ensure that APC’s success in Anambra State may good news and bring forth good tidings to the new party in the South East.
