Imo NUJ Receives Corpse Of Deceased National Officers

Please, this is to inform all NUJ members and the general public that the remains of the former NUJ National Financial Secretary, Mr. Adolphus Okonkwo, one of the three journalists who died in a ghastly motor accident few weeks ago in Ilesa on their way back from Abuja to Lagos will be laid to rest this Saturday, 31st August 2013 at his home town, Umudike-Abueke in Ihitte Uboma LGA of Imo State.
The corpse will arrive the Press Centre around 7.30am on Saturday, 31st August and will be moved to his home town for final burial rites, after a commendation service at the Press Centre, and members are expected to put on their Imo NUJ uniforms, and collect the mourning band at the Press Centre same morning.
From the Press Centre, the corpse will be moved to his home town. After lying-in-state briefly in his compound, there will be a requiem mass at Holy Ghost Catholic Parish Umudike-Abueke in Ihitte-Uboma by 10am after which he will be laid to rest in his compound.
All journalists are expected to come out en mass on Saturday to bid final fare well to our departed senior colleague as the entire National and Zonal Officers of NUJ and other senior colleagues from other Councils will be in the state to pay their last respect to the former National Officer of NUJ and seasoned journalist.
