The Association of Former Honourable Members of Imo State House of Assembly have decided to participate fully in the affairs of the State to enable them contribute their quota as watch Dogs of the Society, including asking pertinent questions concerning the welfare and condition of their members.
In a Communiqué released after a meeting recently signed by the Chairman Hon Alex Emeziem, and Secretary Hon Greg Owuamanam respectively, the Body has set up a Five Man Committee to visit the State Security Services, SSS, Director in Imo State to have an “in-depth information” on the whereabout of their member, Hon Dan Nwagwu who was kidnapped since January this year.
It would be recalled that since January, the former Majority Leader of the Imo House of Assembly has not been seen by his family and friends as he has disappeared without any trace.
The Former Lawmakers also set-up another Five Man Committee to meet the present Speaker of Imo House of Assembly, Rt Hon Benji Uwajumogu “to have one on one discussion on a number of issues including but not limited to, plead with His Excellency, the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha to pay the Severance package of the immediate past Honourable members of 2007-2011 Assembly”
It would also be recalled that the administration of Gov Okorocha choose a few number of the House of Assembly members that were loyal to his regime and paid them a fraction of their severance allowances, but abandoned those of them seen as opponents of his administration.
The Body also urged its members to participate in the burial ceremony of one of their colleague, Hon Louis Chukwu who will be buried today in Ideato North LGA, Imo State.
