As the political environment gradually gains momentum for the horse tradings and maneuvers ahead 2015 election, the Speaker of Imo House of Assembly, Rt Hon Benji Uwajumogu is said to have started consultations for his next political move.
A source told Trumpeta that the Ihitte Uboma born Uwajumogu is keenly interested in replacing Senator Nwagwu as the next Senator for Okigwe Senatorial Zone come 2015.
Although Uwajumogu was yet to make his ambition open, pundits said apart from the secret consultations, his body language had already exposed his thoughts to the generality of the people on his next ambition in 2015.
Trumpeta was told that Uwajumogu had visited not only politicians from his Okigwe Zone, but other heavy weights from Orlu and Owerri zones on his Senatorial plans.
A source told this Newspaper that the Speaker began the consultation in Abuja, where he has reached “out to those that ought to be informed”.
In preparation of the battle ahead, the youthful Speaker is said to have been “stock pilling” funds for the money-gulping venture, which will see him not only set up structures in the entire Okigwe zone, but traverse the area to campaign to all and sundry for their support.
Uwajumogu, it was learnt, is ready for the battle, as his two years in office has been a successful one, both in reaching-out, and garnering enough political experience to mentally adjust to the task ahead.
However, it was said that Uwajumogu, who claims not to be a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, has been rubbing minds with Peoples Democratic Party, PDP hierarchy on how he can stage a “Come back” and be “received” wholly.
But unfortunately for Uwajumogu, the PDP family is said not to be comfortable with his new plan, as many still cannot trust him enough to be given the party’s ticket in 2015.
In this circumstance, the next option open for Uwajumogu is to join All Progressives Congress, APC, but sources said Uwajumogu is not comfortable with APC, particularly in Okigwe axis where PDP is still the dominant party in the zone.
Meanwhile, Uwajumogu will battle for the Okigwe Senatorial Seat with the likes of Chief Athan Achonu, and Senator Sylvester Anyanwu, who wants to go back to the Red Chamber, but playing the kite of running for 2015 Guber.
As a prelude to his plots, every day, Newspaper publishes stories of how Youths or different Groups are persuading the former Senator to join the 2015 race. But sources said the former Senator, as an experienced political fox, wants to be “begged” to join the Senatorial race, and vacate the Guber race.
