For the uninitiated, the 2015 general elections are too far, but for real politicians, the game is just by the corner, and therefore the reason why many interested aspirants have begun preparations for the battle ahead.
Therefore, politicians from Orlu Senatorial Zone, aiming to challenge the incumbent, Senator Hope Uzodinma have started oiling their political machines.
From indications flowing from Orlu Zone, Senator Hope Uzodinma may not have easy ride in 2015, as men and women with what it takes to challenge him have resumed showing their intentions.
Trumpeta has it on good authority that the man Senator Uzodinma replaced in 2011, Senator Osita Izunaso is not only interested in the race in 2015, but has started fortifying his “war chest” for the Herculean task ahead.
Senator Izunaso, the interim National Organizing Secretary of the-yet-to-be registered All Progressives Congress APC, is taking a shot at the race from the platform of his party. “We are staging a come-back” one of his Aides said.
Izunaso who gave Uzodinma a fight for his money in 2011, up till Supreme Court, is said to be having the backing of the Governor, Owelle Rochas to grab the Orlu Senatorial Zone in 2015.
The other aspirant eyeing the seat is Hon Eudora Igwe. Igwe is presently in the Imo House of Assembly representing Ideato North constituency.
Although pundits may not reckon with Igwe on this score, but that was how the woman called “Okwelieze” was under rated by Analysts, yet she became a Local Government Chairman, and against all odds, a Lawmaker in the present dispensation.
Already, Igwe has under her Adaoma Foundation gradually reaching out to the poor masses, which has remained her “Catchment Area” since her plunge into politics. The problem facing Igwe now is under which political platform she will carry out her ambition.
Another top shot, throwing his Hat into the ring, is Business Mogul, and Chief Executive Officer of JAFAC, Chief Felix Chudi Idiga.
Sources close to Idiga told Trumpeta that he used his Birthday party a few weeks ago to taste the waters. The birthday which took place at Orlu and attracted over four serving Governors, it was learnt, was an opportunity for “JAFAC” to sound out his friends on his plan in 2015.
Chief Idiga “shocked” many PDP members at Oguta prior to the House of Assembly re-run, when he doled out millions of Naira. He was among the highest donors.
Trumpeta was told that “JAFAC” has deep pockets and is solid to confront forces for the Orlu Senatorial Seat.
It was learnt that more interested parties will still join the race as time goes on.
However, sources from Uzodinma camp refused to say if the Senator will come for a second term, or run for any other position in 2015, but said that when they get to the bridge they will know how to cross it.
Meanwhile, the entire Orlu zonal youths passed vote of confidence on our amiable Senator (Senator Chief Hope Uzodinma).
At the end of our Town Hall Meeting held at Nkwerre recently, the executive and the entire members of Orlu zonal youths give kudos to our indefatigable senator for his effective representation at the upper chamber of the National Assemble.
We have taken note of all the developmental projects attracted by the Senator in our senatorial zone, which include construction of Solid Roads, Water Project, School Construction and Renovation, among all, youth empowerment and so many others.
We are not surprised at his achievements, it was because of his past records that the entire Orlu Zonal Youths rallied round him and ensured the emerged victoriously in the last election which he defeated some political giant in the zone.
We have noticed the efforts of some disgruntled elements in the zone trying to distract the Senator instead of partnering with him in progress to attract more developmental projects in the zone which ought to be the desire of every progressive politician who has the interest of the zone at heart.
We therefore call on those involved in this acts to desist from it or the youths will take action, as election is not supposed to be seen as do or die rather a call to service.
We urge the Senator never to allow such detractors and continue with his good representation.
In his submission, the National president of the Apex youth organization in the zone (OZYM) Hon. Cmrd. Aburi Williams C. Ahanonu call on all the prominent politicians in the zone to close ranks irrespective of the political parties and come together at ‘least’ in the area of development for us to achieve Maximum result in developing our zone, also call on all the elected officers from the zone who are serving both at the state and national level to emulate the Senator and be up and doing in their respective offices and ensure they carry people along with out considering party affiliation as they are representing the constituents and not their various political party members.
