OCDA Begins Operation Of “Show Your Building Approval

The General Manager of Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA), Hon Iheanyi Abaekwume has called for massive support of Imolites towards OCDA to ensure effective representation in the developmental strides they are about achieving. He made this call at the OCDA Complex Owerri, yesterday at a press briefing to highlight plans as to bring development to all the nooks and crannies of the state.

The General Manager stated that OCDA has brought another plan to better the citizens through their Enforcement Programmes which the master plan has been in existence since 1977 stressing that they are bound to review and renew some decaying policies as much as attracting up better ideas Hon. Iheanyi said that some see OCDA as revenue collectors while executing their functions and plans.

He highlighted the new plans including; show your building plan programmes, work in synergy to advertisements all approved by OCDA. He further added that the illegal conversion of land use must be prohibited; illegal merger of land must also be discouraged in accordance to the new policy plans of OCDA to shut all roads and constructive hitches.

The OCDA Boss Abaekwume commended the Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha on educational reforms in the state which he termed “first of its kind” and stated that as a man with a difference, the Governor ensured that all schools must submit their developmental plans in the hands of OCDA to look into their curriculum in order to ascertain their basic needs. The GM further showered praises on the Commissioner of Police (CP) and his men for the wonderful security assurances guaranteed to Imolites everywhere. He beckoned for supports as to enable them work tirelessly.

On a further development, he short listed most of the challenges facing OCDA among which are; Government support to OCDA to enable them perform creditably well. He added that lack of personnel and manpower are another militating factor to hinder the execution of their plans. He beckoned on the government to assist them in retraining of their staff for effective output. “In one of our plans, we have operation rescue 2000 Imo Youths programme which we are begging the Government to provide us with responsible youths for this empowerment. OCDA has come to amend not to destroy”, concluded Hon Iheanyi.
