Ahead of the inaugural Imo Political Summit which takes off on Friday at All Seasons Hotel, Owerri, a group known as Orlu Forum said it was in full support of the Imo Charter of Equity.
It said although on Orlu son in the person of Governor Rochas Okorocha was in power, the forum believes that the charter must be implemented for political stability in the state.
In a chat with Trumeta in Owerri at the weekend, President of the Forum, Nze Christopher Nwoha said his members were against the monopolization of power by a section of the state to the detriment of others.
According to him, since Orlu has ruled for eight years through Governor Achike Udenwa, it was immoral for another Orlu man to continue to hold on to power. “We are embarrassed that our brothers in Imo now perceive us as greedy people, that is why we want to make it clear that our forum supports the Imo Charter of Equity which endorse rotation of power among Orlu, Owerri and Okigwe zones”, he said.
Nze Nwoha said since Orlu and Okigwe zones had taken their turns, it was now the turn of Owerri zone to produce Imo governor in 2015.
He commended the organizers of the summit for standing by the side of truth and not swayed by ethnic sentiments.
“We not only commend the organizers of the summit but we support the Imo Charter of Equity and we shall work for its restoration ahead of the 2015 election”, Nze Nwoha concluded.
