Statesman Newspapers honour Federal Lawmaker’s Aide

The Statesman’s Newspapers, Owerri, Imo state, on 16th July, 2013, at Imo state University Owerri, Auditorium, honoured Honourable Chimamkpam Anyamkpa, the senior Legislative Aide to Professor Chudi Uwazuruike, Federal House of Representatives Member, representing Okigwe South/Ehime Mbano/Obowo/Ihitte Uboma LGAs. Anyamkpa one time House of Assembly member, Amuwo Odofin LGA, Lagos state and a seasoned journalist who hails from Umuaro, Umunumo in Ehime Mbano.
Declaring the occasion open, the Chairman of the event, professor C.B Nwachukwu of IMSU, said the statesman’s community 2013 Award is in line with the awardees excellent and immense contribution to the development of the society and selfless touch on humanity.
Delivering a keynote lecture with the theme “Local Content Policy And National Competiveness: Positioning For Stronger Economic Development, Mr Augustine Ama, a staff of statesman’s Newspapers, maintained that the problem of underdevelopment in Nigeria is as a result of bad rulership
He averred that “corruption, waste, poor institutional quality, inadequate human capital and weak government policy framework account for these misalignment and lack of commensurate economic development from the huge revenue from Nigeria oil and gas exploration”
He advised rulers to prioritize local contents to advance and boost economy and enhance thorough community development to live prosperously, peacefully and happily.
Hon Chimamkpam was honoured based on his selfless community development as he was able to attract functional electricity to his community as well as solar powered borehole. He also attracted ICT facilities to community secondary school, Umunumo, with over 400 school Chairs and tables to 2 secondary schools in his locality.
In his response, Hon Chimamkpam expressed delight for the honour done to him, and pledged to do more to positively affect the lives of the ordinary people.
