The days of the member representing Ohaji/Egbema State Constituency in Imo State House of Assembly, Chief Luke Chukwu, are numbered as his recall process enters crucial stage.

For alleged incompetence in the State legislature and misrepresentation leveled against him, Hon Chukwu is witnessing turbulent times in his career as a lawmaker.

Following his persistent interest in frivolities like the Adapalm Landlord Association which pitched him against prominent stakeholders in his constituency, people of the area began recall process against him.

Despite denials that there are no such moves, Trumpeta can reveal that the recall process has changed gear as the promoters of the constitutional removal of Hon Chukwu have intensified efforts by sending registers to various electoral wards for the required signatories to effect the recall.

The renewed recall game-plan may not be unconnected with utter displeasure expressed against his continued stay in the House of Assembly by people of Ohaji/Egbema. A meeting summoned by Chukwu two days ago at Imo State Polytechnic Umuagwo could not hold as aggrieved youths stormed the place to disperse few persons who attended the meeting.

Chukwu is accused of lacking the wherewithal to represent the people as he has not considered it necessary to organize a constituency briefing where stakeholders irrespective of political lineage would be invited to be briefed on his stewardship two years after getting their mandate. The people of Ohaji/Egbema further accused Chukwu of sabotage by not informing his constituents of the purported plan to fragment courses in Imopoly by the Government, as well as failing to attract any relevant infrastructure to the Ohaji/Egbema people while other lawmakers have projects to show for the two years they have been in office.

Efforts to reach Chukwu proved abortive as his lines were off. But an aide who spoke on condition of anonymity said that it is action of detractors whose mission would be a failure.
