2015: PDP, APGA Jostle For Senator Anyanwu

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Imo State are jostling for the senator representing Imo East Senatorial District, Senator Chris Anyanwu.
While the PDP is wooing the distinguished senator back to it fold as part of its measure to fortify its base before the 2015 general elections in the State, the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) is not willing to let her go.
Senator Anyanwu is of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the only senator on the party’s platform in the Senate.
Trumpeta gathered that the PDP, in a bid to strengthen its camp have gone after the senator who first vied for the senatorial seat in 2007 on the PDP platform before cross carpeting to APGA in 2011 where she won re election to the senate defeating the current PDP National Woman leader, Dr (Mrs) Kema Chikwe.
Confirming this development to this newspaper, the Imo PDP publicity secretary, Blyden Amajirionwu said the senator is one of them, saying that her exit was one of the mistakes the party made in 2011 election that made her to leave.
“Chris is one of us. It was only one of those mistakes we made in 2011 election that made her leave. There is absolutely nothing wrong in her returning to her family the PDP since those factors that necessitated her exit are no longer obtainable. I will even request for any opportunity to beg her to return. She is a virtous woman of many advantages. We (PDP ) will stage the biggest welcome for her if she decides to return. So the issue is not if PDP is asking her to come back but that we will celebrate her on the good day of her return” Amajirionwu declared .
Meanwhile, the senator has discountenanced the report that she is heading back to the PDP.
Speaking to Trumpeta on phone, the senator’s media aide, Evarest Ezihe, said senator Anyanwu remains in APGA as she in corroboration with other stakeholders of the party on strengthening APGA in Imo State.
He said recently, the senator convened a stakeholders meeting of the party in her capacity as leader of APGA in Imo State where far reaching measures were taken to solidify the party in the State.
Ezihe however admitted that the senator is not unmindful of the advances of the PDP, stating that at the moment she is concerned on her duties as senator representing Imo East Senatorial District in the senate.
