Children’s Day Celebration Okorocha, Commissioners, School Pupils Share Uniforms

May 27th which marks the Celebration of Children’s Day all over the world was a show of drama in Imo State, as Governor Rochas Okorocha, Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Chike Okafor, the Honourable member representing Orlu State Constituency, Barr Mike Ndubuaku and other government Officials, were all decked in school uniforms with Pupils of primary and secondary schools.
Speaking at the event, Governor Okorocha, enjoined the students to work hard, have confidence in themselves, shun laziness and cultism, do away with procrastination and prepare themselves in order to make progress and success in life since they are the future leaders.
In her speech the Commissioner for Community Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr Ugochi Nnanna Okoro, Commissioner for Agriculture, Mrs. Adora Ijezie, Prof Anwuka, Imo SSG, Commissioner for Health, Dr Joe Obi Njoku said they felt great as the school children were matching and confidently in their new- free school uniforms which the state Government provided for them. They extolled the Governor for his free education policy in Imo State.
Birthright Nursery School Won the First Prize in Nursery School Category, Imo Model Primary School Won the First Prize in Primary Schools Category, while Rochas Foundation College, Owerri, won the First Prize in secondary school category. These schools were given prizes and cash for their hardwork.
Speaking to Trumpeta a student from Madonna Secondary School, Owerri, Master Momaihe Camilus .C. who is the games prefect of the School said he felt great for winning a 3rd prize because they rehearsed thoroughly for the competition. Some teachers from Madonna Secondary School, Rev Sister Mariam Doris Agbakuru and Mr. ND Collins who also spoke to Trumpeta expressed joy while thanking God for making them win 3rd prize in the Children’s Day Competition.
However, Mrs. Tina Ikechi, a teacher from Police Children School, Owerri, who is also the sports Co-ordinator of the primary school expressed happiness for the 3rd prize they have won.
