Tension Oguta Community As flood money Tears CGC, stakeholders Apart.

 

 

 

Mgbele Community is in turmoil; following indications that the community’s share of the whopping N400 million naira allocated to Imo state for flood ravaged communities provided by the Federal Government, is causing ripples.

 

It was learnt that the state government gave out N2 million naira to flood ravaged communities as compensation for last year’s flood menace in the area.

 

Meanwhile, youths in the Mgbele community went aghast when reports filtered out to them that the funds were missing and misappropriated without consultation.

According to Mr. Nwaozor Ugochukwu, president, Mgbele Youth progressive Association, he accused CGC members in the area of fiddling with the compensation funds, declaring that the N2 million naira was exclusively for compensation for flood victims and not for any other purpose.

 

Other stakeholders from the community noted that the money was strictly for the flood victims and not to carter for the administrative runs of the CGC in the community.

 

At a meeting convened by the youths, they allegedly ordered CGC Exco in the area to provide the funds or face dire consequences.

 

Before the meeting, there was a uniamous agreement in Mgbele by stakeholders in the area that the sum of three hundred thousand naira will be giving to each of the five villages in the community, while the balance of five hundred thousand will be left in the account of the community to take care of any “eventually”. Other stakeholders in the community such as Comrade Cyprian Okorie, spiritual Director, National Youth Council of Nigeria, admonished the CGC members in the area, advising them to steer clear of public funds.
