Commissioner Ekweremba Thanks Governor Okorocha For Rescuing Ohaji/Egbema, Oguta Flood Victims

Hon (Barr) Ekweremba Emmanuel, Hon.
Commissioner, Ministry of Petroleum and Environment who hails from Ohaji/Egbema thanked Governor Okorocha over the way and manner he applied towards rescuing Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta flood victims.
It is no longer news that flood sub-merged some communities in Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta last year, rendering a lot of people homeless. Because of this disaster, a lot of notable people from different local governments of the state who has one political interest or the other has been trying to make news out of the flood menace by making it look like the amiable Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha hate the people of Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta. Events that unfolded in the way some people sent relief materials to the area speak volume about this fact.
However, Governor Okorocha in his usual self at a time showed how much he love Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta people by personally visiting these two great local governments that everybody see as the hen that lays the golden egg in Imo State. He did this in great style by visiting with the entire Imo State expanded Exco members and Imo legislature.
In the course of the visit, the Governor donated several materials to the flood victims and even raised a donation of several millions of naira to aid these flood victims. He promised at the programme that the Federal Government has approved some money for all flood victims in Nigeria and that when the money come, that every flood victim must surely partake in it as the money is meant for them.
When the flood money came, it was not surprising that the Governor in his magnanimity gave it back to the people through Community Government Council (CGC) so that the various communities affected will share it themselves. This is the reason for the noble idea that gave birth to Community Government Council a form of Government that runs her affairs through the application of bottom-top approach of governance. This implies that the people have their fate in their hands. That they can now determine what they want from Government instead of vice-versa.
By giving the flood money through CGC, the Governor has demonstrated his aim of formulating CGC which was formally passed into law by Imo State House of Assembly. He has demonstrated that he is not playing pranks when he said he is giving governance back to the people which necessitated the formation of Community Government Council, the first of its kind in Nigeria.
