Following the recent cases of prophecies in the Catholic Church, another farces has be fallen St. Basil’s Catholic Parish Awo-Omamma, of Orlu Diocese as the church gate was under locked and key on Sunday morning when sons and daughters of the land in attestation to fact that the parish priest in charged Rev. Fr. Obinna Odinkah accused Mr. Jonah Anyanacho of being a cultist.
Speaking to Trumpeta, Hon. Alphonsus Onwumere clarified that ever since Fr. Odinkalu came to their parish, it has been one prophecy to the other, accusing their sons which scared some of them away from participating in the church’s programmes. He said that the principal accused, Mr. Jonah Anyanacho personally invited Fr. Odinkah to his new house for blessing which Fr Obinna obliged to. Then some months later, the accused siblings were told by the priest never to step into their brothers house as he is a full blown cultist.
The sad news irritated Mr. Jonah that he have to gather same sons of Awo-Omamma for the protest. In addition, Hon. Alphonsus also commented that his elder brother, Chief Nicholas Onwumere (Nichben) was also pointed out as a ritualist in the community hearing all these allegations, they decided to go to their Eze who made them to understand that Fr Odinkah has been demanding for a share in the trees cut down by him which he claimed to be fetish and barbaric in the sight of God. He gave orders that the ancient shrine and the trees be burnt and cut down which he succeeded. Eze Barr. Amukamara on due investigation at Umuejike where the shrine was demolished asked for the money realized from the bye-products and was told that Fr Odinkah is on their neck that the money should be submitted to the church, about a million naira.
Reacting, the villagers unanimously agreed to make a bold step of reporting the priest’s ordeals on them to the Bishop by padlocking the church gate which hundred that Sunday mass at the parish.
On hearing this, he called some military men while Nichben, Jonah, and others gathered their security men which led to casualties, and fight ensured between mass servers and the villagers.
The villager urged Bishop Ukwuoma to make immediate transfer of Fr. Odinkah or the church will not be accommodating for them all
All efforts by Trumpeta to reach the priest proved abortive as his phone ranged repeatedly without answer.
