Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State yesterday, said he at one time contemplated to quit as the state governor, if not for the encouragement from his dear wife to continue. He said he at one time contemplated such action because he was being pushed to the wall by some forces in the state who are bent on pulling him down, despite his avowed resolve to take Imo state to the next level.
Okorocha, who spoke at Freedom Day celebration, held at Event Centre, New Owerri, however explained he is not deterred by such machinations of those averse to his Rescue Mission Agenda in the state.
He lamented that some Imolites, including some Federal lawmakers representing the state in Abuja have become willing tools in the hands of those who are bent on destroying his efforts to take Imo State to the zenith of economic prosperity.
The Governor explained that he is now ready to move from rescue to mission, a description which emphasizes his resolve to take the Rescue Mission to another level.
He added that he is bent on transforming the state, as the last two years which recorded unprecedented infrastructural development will be complimented by a more aggressive approach in the coming years to ensure that the dividends of democracy are made available to Imolites in quantum.
The Governor said the next two years will be see Imolites benefit from his administration, stating he is determined and bent on ensuring the betterment of the people, stressing that he is poised to surpass the achievements of previous administrations, adding that Imo State shall never have an evil leader.
He promised that the cash squeeze in the system will become a thing of the past, as the next two years will witness flow of cash in the polity.
Okorocha thanked the people of Imo State for their encouragement and support, saying May 6, 2011, symbolize the day the people of Imo State were liberated from evil leaders. He described his administration as the best in the history of Nigeria, citing some of his monumental achievements as indices of his desire to deliver.
Earlier, all the State Commissioners gave a brief breakdown of their achievements in office which revealed sector-sector analysis of the achievements of the Okorocha administration in two years.
