In response to the recent public statement credited to the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu that he was allegedly offered N3bn by Chief Martin Agbaso at the premises of Chief Emeka Offor, in Anambra State to impeach Governor Rochas Okorocha to enable the sacked Deputy Governor and younger brother, Jude take over, the Agbasos have described the Speaker a blood liar who is on a wild goose chase.
Even as the patriarch of the Agbaso family has described Uwajumogu’s claim as falsehood and unexpected from a person holding such position, the younger Agbaso described Uwajumogu as a mere joker involved in rabble rousing and grand standing.
Jude offered that Uwajumogu’s belated outburst speaks volume of Imo State House of Assembly premeditated plot to sack him from office over trumped up charges.
The removed Deputy Governor who described the Speaker’s assertion as a figment of the lawmaker’s imagination queried why the Ihitte Uboma born lawmaker chose this period to open up on the issue.
“It is sheer blackmail on the Speaker’s part to open up now on the issue of being offered bribe to impeach the Governor. It has gone a long way to show that Imo Assembly action against me was a premeditated political action”, Agbaso added.
According to the impeached Agbaso, “in no distant time, the truth about the whole episode will come up as unfolding events continue to expose them”.
Martin had in previous briefing with print media publishers denied ever plotting or engaging in any conspiracy to remove Okorocha for his brother to take over insisting that there was no bases for that at the time in question.
It would be recalled that Uwajumogu told reporters how Agbaso and a top PDP Chieftain and National Vice Chairman (South East) Augustine Akobundu, allegedly offered him money to impeach Okorocha as he would be offered protection to execute the job.
