A group known as Imo Progressive Youth (IPY) has threatened for a showdown against those who they accused of trying to destabilize Imo State.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Comrade Cyracus Njoku accused the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Alhaji Gulak and the South-East Chairman of the PDP (Col Akobundu (rtd)) sponsoring the plot to destabilize Imo. The Group claimed that the PDP Chieftains as part of their plan, have invited the EFCC into the state to harass some members of the Imo State House of Assembly for their role in the impeachment of the former Deputy Governor, Sir Jude Agbaso, with the view of creating tension and over heating the Imo Polity.
Reacting to the threat by the group, a PDP Chieftain in Imo State, dismissed the group as a rented crowd, quickly put together by the government in Imo to divert attention from their Lawlessness and misrule and called on Imolites to disregard the ranting of the agents of a sinking government, noting that PDP is a law abiding party that believes in due process and rule of law, stressing that those who are found wanting by EFCC must answer for their activities.
