A major political earthquake is imminent in Oru East LGA, as the member representing the constituency in the Imo House of Assembly, Hon. Greg Okemili and the Sole Administrator, Hon. Donatus Ejifugha are entangled in a fierce war over the alteration of CGC list in the area.
Ejifugha, who spoke to newsmen in his office, Thursday, alleged that Hon. Okemili has no right to alter the CGC list in Awo because he (Okemili) is from Akatta Community.
He said at no time did he alter the name of the Youth Leader for Ofekata III Community. Ejifugha’s position was backed by the Government Liaison Officer (GLO) Ofekata III, Chief Augustine Onyedebelu who said that Okemili’s ward falls in Akatta where he was registered with the Reg. No. 231701 – 231800, page 279.
Lending their support to the claims of the SOLAD, a group that calls itself Awo-Omama Project Association led by Kenneth Amanfor, advised Okemlili to leave the SOLAD alone for him to focus on his job.
In response to the allegations, Hon. Okemili told Trumpeta that he never altered any list or shortchanged the name of the Youth Leader, adding it was Ejifugha in connivance with the Commissioner for CGC and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ugochi Nnanna Okoro who collectively connived to remove the name of Cletus Agwu with one David Soko Ndiulo. Hon. Okemili added that if there was alteration on the CGC list for Oru East, the SOLAD and the Commissioner should be the ones to be held responsible.
He alleged that Ejifugha does not have the interest of Oru East at heart.
The lawmaker alleged that, the SOLAD has stifled efforts that will lead to the completion of the Nichben Junction Amaji-Umuokwe road by hinderinf the efforts of the contractor handling the road project. Okemili also accused the SOLAD who was then SA, Advance Protocol to Governor Okorocha, of diverting part of the N2 million largesse doled out by Governor Rochas Okorocha to Oru East stakeholders who visited the Governor at Government House, Owerri.
He said it is unfortunate that Ejifugha could resort to cheap blackmail, despite assisting him to rise to his present political position.
Speaking on the raging controversy surrounding the appointment of a Youth Leader in Ofekata III Autonomous Community, the Commissioner for CGC and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barrister (Mrs) Ugochi Nnanna-Okoro, said the Youth Leader in Ofekata III was never substituted.
The Commissioner made available to newsmen a letter from her office dated 8th April, 2013 with Ref |No. MCGCCA/Comm. 002/Vol. 1/41, addressed to the Chairman, Community Government Council, HRH Eze P.O Abanukam, the Okeosisi I of Ofekata III Autonomous Community, Awomamma.
The letter contained that the appointment of Mr David Soko Ndulo as the Youth Leader of Ofekata III Autonomous Community, Oru East. She debunked Hon. Okemili’s claim that the letter from her ministry’s letter was not forged.
