AGAIN, EFCC ARRESTS IMO FINANCE COM, AG OVER 1.5BN JPROSS CONTRACT

The unending invasion of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC of Imo State for the umpteenth time has consumed two strategic persons involved in money and fund related matters in the state.

According to EFCC reports, the State Commissioner for Finance, Deacon Chike Okafor and Accountant General, George Eche are cooling their feet in EFCC net again for a third time as they are answering questions on matters related to the controversial JPross contract scandal which caused the impeachment of former Deputy Governor, Sir Jude Agbaso.

It would be recalled that Okafor and Eche had earlier this year made EFCC cell their temporary abodes when the anti-graft body quizzed them over alleged mismanagement of funds of the state. Based on petitions to the EFCC on the unwarranted over payment of road project without due process and necessary requirements for full payments which led to the impeachment of the Deputy Governor, the two key government officials were arrested.

Their arrests came against the back drop of recent interrogation of JPross boss Joseph Dina, some honourable members of the Imo State House of Assembly and others enmeshed in the scandal.

As at the time of going to press, the duos are still under interrogation while EFCC spokesperson was not available for comments.

Okafor and Eche were arrested in Abuja after taking part in the Federal Revenue and Allocation meeting with the Minister for Finance.
