Okorocha Did Not Sack Our Workers, Says IMSTMA Boss

The managing director and chief executive officer, MD/CEO, Imo State Traffic Management Authority, IMSTMA, Chief Don Onwukaike, has described as untrue, media reports that Imo State Governor, Owelle Anayo Okorocha has sacked 290 staffers of the organization.
Rather, he informed journalists that the Governor only suspended their field operations for a month, adding that their top management and administrative staff are operating at skeletal level as field officers were merely withdrawn from their duty posts and not sacked.
Onwukaike said the governor in the wake of complaints from reckless drivers who had variously been contravened by IMSTMA for committing traffic offences, halted their activities and constituted a five-man committee to streamline and fine-tune their modus operandi.
He debunked allegations of fraud and high-handedness leveled against the organization and revealed that their staff has not done anything in violation of or contrary to the Law NO.14 of 2011 enacted, by members of the Imo State House of Assembly, IMHA establishing the organization.
IMSTMA according to him has recorded many road accidents caused by the use of one way by reckless drivers whom he lamented has maimed and killed many hapless citizens.
He insisted that only people whose relations are victims are aware of the ugly incident which he said occurs daily.
The traffic boss sued for all hands to be on deck to check the ugly incident and make Imo roads free and safe for all, adding that they will commence operations immediately the committee of which he is a member, concludes their assignment, as he re-emphasizes that Okorocha did not sack any IMSTMA staff.
