For the family of Mr Eugene Anyasodo of Mpama Egbu in Owerri North LGA, April 11, 2013 will ever remain a bitter day in their lives. It was the day the news of the death of their daughter, Mrs Gloria Okoro (nee Anyasado) was broken to them.
According to a petition written to the Area Commander, the Nigerian Police Force, Owerri Imo State and signed by Mr Eugene Anyasodo, he alleged that his daughter was beaten to death in her husband’s house at Amukachi, Akabo in Ikeduru LGA Imo State, and his appointing accusing fingers at the direction of one Mrs Ndidi Okoro and her children, including the mother of his daughter’s husband.
In the five paragraph petition to the police, Mr Anyasodo alleged that his daughter who wedded Mr Cletus Okoro on Dec 27, 2012 visited him at Egbu on April 9, “informing me over threats and predicaments she was subjected to by one Mrs Ndidi Okoro, her sister inlaw and her children including her mother inlaw” the petition read.
He went on to say that his daughter told him that the alleged names were making demands of money from her since she is working and receiving salary, or in the alternative leave “her husbands house or she will die”.
Mr Anyasodo said he told the daughter to return to Akabo, and promised to visit her to resolve the problem.
Unfortunately, Anyasodo who fail ill after said he was in the hospital when the daughter whose husband resides and works in Aba, visited again on April 10, 2013 to lay fresh complaints of intimidation from her husband’s relations, but met her younger sister Miss Stella Anyasodo and her girl friend Mrs Chioma Ononaiwu.
He said that later, Miss Stella Anyasado went to Akabo to see what the problem was, but was told that her sister Gloria was in the mortuary.
Mr Anyasado alleged that Stella got to the mortuary and “saw her body with bruises all over her body, and stains of blood gushing out from her mouth, eyes and nose which prompted us being of the believe that she was murdered”.
Mr Anyasodo said that on April 11, 2013 his daughter’s husband, Mr Cletus Okoro “called me on phone that my daughter Mrs Gloria Okoro was dead that he is taking her corpse to the mortuary”.
The petitioner is therefore appealing to the Inspector General of Police to investigate the matter and whoever is involved in her daughter’s death should face the wrath of the Law.
When Trumpeta phoned the police officer said to be the IPO handling the case, he failed to pick his call, but a police source who wished to remain anonymous said the matter is under investigation.
