Orluzuruimee leader, Chief Emeka Diwe, has been honoured with the prestigous Akpulu Legend Award.The most Rev. Gregory Obinna Ochiagha, Bishop Emeritus of Orlu Diocese, at a Special Mass to mark the 25th Anniversary Silver Jubilee of Saint James Catholic Parish, Akpulu, Ideato North LGA, Imo State, has described Emeka Diwe as a “good man who used resources for the good of mankind and the development of Akpulu community”
The Bishop Emeritus eulogized the people and parishioners of Akpulu for their generosity and love. He charged catholic faithfuls to remain faithful to God by loving one another irrespective of financial and social status.
In his response, Diwe thanked God for His infinite mercy as He has kept him alive to be honoured by his people. “I really feel great about the honour especially for the “Legend” nomenclature. I am excited. If actually my efforts could be appreciated in that manner, to God be the glory” he said
The philanthropist who sank three boreholes and established a Foundation for the less-privileged called “Emeka Diwe Foundation” in his community, Akpulu, thanked his people for their overwhelming love and support, and promised to do more for them.
The National President of Orluzurumee and a member of Ohanneze Ndi-Igbo a socio-cultural organization, urged rulers to shun greed, political vendetta, and in the interest of all so that there will be peace and development in the society.
In their words of appreciation, Rev Fr. Evarestus Akubueze of Saint James Catholic parish, Akpulu and the youth leader of orluzurumee, Uzoma Michael, described Emeka Diwe as an outstanding and generous man, who happens to be the first Akpulu son to be honoured as the “Legend of Akpulu community”.
