CocaCola has promised to sponsor indigenes of Irete Community to the up coming CocaCola world Soccer tournament in a yet to be decided venue around the word.
This promise was made known to “Imo Trumpeta”, during the opening ceremony of the ‘Irete Unity Cup’ which incidentally is powered by Coca-Cola a brand of Nigerian Bolting Company (NBC) on Sunday, at the Bishop Lasbery Girls Secondary School, Irete.
The regional Public Affairs Manager of the Company, Mr Akuma Eze, in a chart with Imo Trumpeta did recount that last year,ImoState played in the regional tournament inBenin but failed to make it to the finals inSouth Africa.
However, he expressed his company’s redness to sponsor a family or a Community Leader of an Irete indigene that qualifies play to in the tournament proper as a gesture to promote the up-coming talents in Irete Community. The family members or the Community Leader will be entitled to go and watch the player play in the Cop CocaCola tournament any were around the world that this years tournament will be held.
He also used the opportunity to explain why his company decided to be involved in the Irete Unity foodball tournament.
“As you know, football is one of the means of providing excitement especially in this period of yuletide.
“We decided to bring excitement for the old and young in Irete Community and also to foster peace, unity as well as discover talents.
“Apart from the monetary incentives which shouldn’t be used as a yardstick, the company also wants the indigenes, our customers to be engaged in active life style”, Akuma explained.
Meanwhile, in the opening game of the Irete Unity Cup, Umunwanlo defeated Umungenakorochie by 2-0 in a very thrilling encounter that was watched by a mammoth crowd at the Bishop Lasbery play ground.
Akuma, who also watched the encounter, expressed his happiness with the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for a wonderful job they have done in their Organization, while also commending the two teams for their level of play and discipline during game.
