IMO ROAD CONTRACTORS ORDERED BACK TO SITE

Contractors handling roads in Imo State have been ordered to get back to sites and ensure speedy completion of the projects.
The Chairman State House of Assembly Committee on Joint State and Local Government Projects, Bro. Stan Dara gave the ultimatum during the road project inspection in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA recently.
He pointed out that the rain has subsided, insisting that the contractors have no reason to further delay the road work.
Bro. Dara, who is also the member for Orsu constituency threatened that contractors whom payments were advanced to earlier would be made to refund part of the money if they fail to recommence work within two weeks of the committee revisit to sites.
He lamented that some of the contractors have not much to show for the money received as there were slight evidence of earth work and drainages to protect the roads from the rain.
The lawmaker promised that those yet to be advanced but have done substantial work have nothing to loose, directing the project consultant, Mr. Kenneth Mbaekwe to evaluate inputs and forward same for payment.
On his part, the Chairman House Committee on Works and Member for Ideato South constituency, Hon. Ikechukwu Amuka charged contractors to conform to road project specifications and standard, warning that no sacred cow would be spared in the task to make Imo better.
He said the state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha was commited to adequate provision of infrastructure and total transformation of  Imo to enviable height and enjoined the contractors not to be a clog in the wheel of progress.
Speaking, the LGA TC Chairman and Senior Technical Assistant to the Governor, Dr. Kachi Nwoga regretted the set back due the rainy reason but assured smooth motorable roads ahead of yuletide.
On behalf of the contractors, Chief Charles Obilor reassured quality work in line with the specification and time.
Some of the road project inspected include Nwoga – Onu – Old St. Patrick – Eddy Milla road, Ezima Oparanadim – Mpam Ekwerazu road, Umuaghara – Eke Okwe – Okpukwume road, Afor Ogbe – Umuakam/Nkwo – Otulu – Ihitte otulu road, Eke Ahiara loop/expansion, St. Mary’s Elekennwasi – Ovu Ebiri Umuezu – Umuagbavu link and Nnarambia – Lude – Obodo Ahiara Road.
