EFCC Goes Harder On Okorocha, Blocks Account .Ex Governor Cries Out Over Maltreatment From Anti Graft Agency, APC

Former Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha is undergoing hell in the hands of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC and his All Progressive Congress, APC, party if reports reaching Trumpeta are considered.

Okorocha, who a fortnight ago declared interest to run for the 2023 Presidency is facing serious challenges at the moment from the anti graft agency and his party.

Apart from seizing his international passport that bares him from outside the country despite court barring the agency, the EFCC has also blocked Okorocha’s accounts from financial transaction going by what Trumpeta learnt.

Trumpeta was informed that as part of punitive measures to checkmate Okorocha  who is under EFCC watch list, his account has also been blocked after seizure of the travel documents.

Okorocha has been suffering challenges from the EFCC since he left office as governor in 2019. Aside from seizure of property, he was arrested and kept behind bars before release until recently, amended charges saw him accused of misappropriating N2.9bn of the Imo State fund with other accomplices.

Confirming the development, Okorocha who lamented that EFCC has not been fair to him said, “till today, they (EFCC) are holding my account, they blocked my account and arrested me.  And now, they are charging me again when the court has suspended all allegations against me.

“So, I’m waiting to see how it goes. I believe it is political, if it is not, why did it come in the same day I officially declared to contest the Presidency of the country” he added.

Speaking further on his travails in APC, Okorocha who recalled how the ruling party was formed regretted that despite efforts he made to market the party in Imo state and Igboland in general, he is being treated in an unfair manner.

“I have suffered a lot of injustice in the hands of a government I helped to form”, began the former governor,  “secondly I had a judgment against Oshiomole in Imo State when he dissolved the executive illegally and handed over the main structure to the governor of Imo State against the people that were duly elected. We went to court and got a court judgment against Oshiomole.

The same party had refused to obey the court judgment which has not been upturned by any court.

“The court of Appeal upheld it and they have refused to allow the executive recognized by the party and the law to assume their position”.
