The Okigwe Zone Progressive Women Association OKZPWA, has expressed their resolve to always help their fellow women especially those who are down trodden.
This was made very evident during various activities that marked her successful end of the year 2021, OKZPWA engaged in a huge philanthropy, providing succor for indigent women in the zone.
In a project tagged “Feed the Widow”, The leadership and members of the association visited the six Local Government areas in Okigwe zone (Imo North) namely Obowo, Ihitte/Uboma, Isiala-Mbano, Okigwe, Ehime Mbano Onuimo with various gift items and made cash donation to some widows.
The women association who identify themselves as “Women of Excellence” comprises prestigious women residing in Home country, Nigeria and Some others who living in abroad especially the United State of America. The women groups been have organizing themselves, pooling funds and mobilizing other people’s support since 2019 for purposeful impacts to their fellow women, mainly the rural women in Imo North (Okigwe) Zone.
In declaring the program open, the National President and Founder of the association, Lolo Nkemdi Onyirimba expressed that Christmas was a time of giving and sharing with the less privileged in the society. Hence, the merry should go round. She lauded the donors for their generosity. Pointing out that despite many stories of successes, winnings, failures , ups and downs with several socio-economic and security challenges of 2021, there were reasons to thank God especially for life He graciously gave to them. She highlighted numerous empowerment programs initiated by the association for the progress and development of women of the Zone.She further hinted that the Mission Feed a Widow Project, which took-off on 12th December 2021 with a visit to Onuimo Local Government area and was concluded on the 24th December 2021 at Ehime Mbano Local Government was their way of giving back to the society and putting smiles on the faces of selected Widows in Imo North Zone.
In a prayer of appreciation by the beneficiaries, the women celebrated the season with expressions of gratitude to God for the many blessings and protection in the year 2021 as well as prayed for blessing upon the leaders and members of the Okigwe Zone Progressive Women Association.
