The Imo State Government has denied plans to scrap bureaus. It says the State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has no intention whatsoever to sack some government appointees.
In a statement signed by the Governor’s Special Adviser (Print Media), Ebere Uzoukwa, said there is no iota of truth in newspaper reports that plans have been perfected in government circles to scrap bureaus.
The Statement reads in part;
On Thursday November 8, 2012, an Owerri-based local tabloid, ImoTrumpeter went to town with an unimaginable falsehood insinuating that the State government has concluded plans to scrap all government
bureaus in the state which according to the publication will lead to the sack of some government appointees under alleged “Policy Reform in
Imo”.
The said publication purported that His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha had directed the Secretary to the State Government , Prof.Anthony Anwuka and the new Head of Service, Mrs. Nkechi Onumajuru to
work out modalities on how to carry out the exercise.
The State Government wishes to dismiss the publication in its entirety
as it could be better described as the figment of imagination of the
owners of the Newspaper and their sponsors.
The publication is false , unfounded and another orchestrated plan by
some disgruntled elements and their collaborators to cause
disaffection between His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha and his
foot-soldiers.
It is on record that Gov. Owelle Rochas Okorocha has taken
far-reaching steps to strengthen the wings of his administration with
his lieutenants also working in tandem with his developmental concept
as enshrined in Rescue Mission Agenda towards transforming Imo into a
model state in Nigeria. This however is on course as numerous landmark
projects have been completed and many others ongoing.
It is noteworthy to state that His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha
as a team player has engaged his appointees as veritable partners in
his avowed commitment to build Imo of our collective dream and
aspiration. That is why all hands are on deck to deliver dividends of
democracy to the good people of Imo state.
Again, the government wishes to advise media practitioners in the
state to desist from misinforming the unsuspecting public by embracing
the tenets of journalism profession which includes cross-checking
their facts before publication.
