Principals of over 300 secondary schools in Imo State are said to have been divided into two factions because of alleged millions of Naira said to have entered into the fund of their umbrella body known as ANCOPSS.
Information has it that last year big amount of money was generated for the support of the Union.
We were told that each student that registered for WAEC allegedly paid up to N1700 while those that registered for junior WAEC paid up to N5,000 for ANCOPSS support.
Some aggrieved principals are said to have raised eye brow on the huge amount of money that have entered into ANCOPSS fund and yet nothing to show for it. While some are said to be aggrieved and want a change of leadership others are said to have passed vote of confidence on the present leadership of Imo ANCOPSS for living up to their expectation.
Few are also complaining of tenure elongation adding that some of their leaders have retired and refused to conduct election for the younger Principals to take over as leaders of the umbrella body (ANCOPSS).
The issues have raised a lot of dust and is bringing misunderstanding among principals in Imo State.
Further information revealed that the principals were asked to pay over N25,000 each as at last for All African Principal Conference scheduled to take place in Abuja and it could not hold because of lock down which came up as a result of covid 19.
The money paid by these Principals were not refunded by the umbrella body and there was no clear explanation on this, Trumpeta learnt.
Right now, the two factions are said to be at war as we gathered.
Further information revealed that the aggrieved Principals want their present leaders to be probed by the State Government and the National Body without delay.
Meanwhile concerned Imolites want the State Governor Senator Hope Uzodinma to consider it necessary as a matter of urgency to come into this matter and bring peace between the Principals before their misunderstanding escalates into a full physical war.
We further gathered that the confusion between the factions is affecting the school system in Imo State.
