Apart from security challenges caused by the activities of unknown gun men, a new wave of insecurity is been observed in Imo State.
The insecurity has to do with the frequent manner suspected kidnappers are abducting people in Imo State.
Last weekend was unfair to people of Okwudor in Njaba LGA of Imo State as a retired Auditor of Local Government administration, Tony Offor was kidnapped alongside two others at the market square of the community, called Eke Okwudor.
Trumpeta learnt that the retired LGA worker operates a shop at the market centre where he sells drinks for retail and wholesale purposes. While in the company of others inside the market yet to be identified gunmen stormed the market, shot into the air to scare the public before carting away the retired worker.
Two others at his shop were not left out as they were abducted too and taken to unknown destination.
The abductors are said to have opened up to the family members. They initially asked for N50m and later came down to N15m for the release of Mr Offor.
Meanwhile, the sleepy Ohii autonomous community in Owerri- West is yet to come to terms with a kidnap incident which shook the community on 13/6/2021.
An eye witness who spoke to Trumpeta Newspaper on condition of anonymity said that on that fateful day, the Community had been agog because of an Anglican Youth Conference going on there at St Phillips Anglican Church, Ohii.
The eye Witness said that on that day, around 7.50am, a woman identified as Mrs Ikenna Onwusoroaka from Eshimeshi Ohii  had driven into the church compound to drop her children for a church service and was driving out homewards  when the kidnappers accosted her at a junction in Ohii.
At the junction, the kidnappers double crossed her in her Honda car, dragged her out and whisked her away to an unknown destination.
The witness said the kidnappers who operated in a jeep had earlier dropped a man they abducted along Akwakuma at that Ohii junction before their new catch.
The man dropped was taken away as he was driving with his family. But funny enough the kidnappers never knew that the point where they dropped the man was near a family compound the man packed out from about three months ago to Akwakuma area.
At as the time of filing this report, the whereabout of Mrs Onwusoroaka, said to be in her early pregnancy, is unknown as the abductors had not made any contacts.
Presently, palpable fear has engulfed the Eshimeshi village and the entire Ohii autonomous community.
